RZ2 Owners - caution towing in tight places

I always wondered when towing my RZ2 if it was possible for the boat to touch the truck because it always looked so close when making tight turns. I found out the answer while turning the truck/boat around in a tight area with a hill. I had to pull the truck up a hill and then back down and around and didn't think anything of it. The next morning I came out to pull the cover and noticed the large dent above my taillight.

The boat is fine and the paint got scraped off of the truck by the stainless rub rail.

      Who made your trailer?

The first thing I noticed when I saw one at the shop was how long the tongue on the trailer was and the dealer told me that was because the pickle would hit a vehicle on a tight turn. That was an Extreme trailer. Evidently it was not long enough on your trailer.

Yep, with the swing-out tongue option. On my Chevy Avalanche, I don't think it was ever a problem because the lights are angled at the back and it has a little more bumper to it. I've had the truck on level ground at least 90 degrees before and it was still inches away, I think this was because of the truck being on a slope and the boat being flat.

If it has a swingout, I would have a larger, more extended tongue made-pronto. At least the boat won the battle!

I'm not really worried about it happening again, I'm fully aware that the possibility exists now. I've been towing this boat for awhile now and just didn't think it would happen, now that I know about it I will be more aware. My buddy owns a body shop so I'll get it fixed pretty quick.

I feel you. I torpedo'd my tail light last 4th of a July trying to do a U turn on a one way lane road.

I haven't come close to do that yet but have had friends warn me about something like that happening. Sorry to hear that you had to learn the hard way.

thats bad luck, ive seen this happen before. one of the first Rz 2s to arrive in the country, was in town on its way to pull a tournament somewhere down south and, someone/s stole the whole rig, car and all.
the poliece found the rig travelling about 6 hours south of where it was stolen. the fools where driving in broad daylight on the freeway.
when it was returned, the truck that was towing it had two massive dints, left and right, no apparent damage to the tips of the hull tho.
