ya when we where at Powell, we use 30 gal a day, One day used 45 gal.
But we run from 9am till 8 or 9 pm. put about 60 hours on the boat in 5 days.

At Mojave, we use about 20 – 25 gallons each day, (spend more time on the beaches, just hanging out in the water)

I get around 6gph if I wakeboarding, and 7-8 pulling the 3 man tube.

anybody worried whats going to happen to tow sports when fuel gets too expensive??? will the be an electric tige??

I'm thinkin' diesel. It's all about the torque. Gas engines just don't have it and I really don't need to go that fast. Give me a multi-speed transmission (even if I have to choose the ratio before shifting into gear) and I think it'll work.

I have the 07 24Ve and the gas consumption is very good. I burn about 3.5 gals/hour tubing, wakeboarding, etc.

In comparison, my old 20 foot 1989 VIP with 190 HP 302 v8 with 2 bbl carb weighed half as much and about half the HP also burned 3.5 gals per hour.

Fuel injected 340 is awesome.

I have always wondered why there is no multi-speed trans??? I realize the risks involved with older equipment, but with RPM limiters and such, why? why, why?

In my 24v, when my gas guage reads 1/2 full, or 1/2 empty, we have to head in to fill up. I have only ran out of gas once. And the guage read just under 1/2 tank. I know the gas guages in wakeboard boats are never that acurate. Just be carefull!

My gas guage says full. It moves to 3/4 when I have used 15 gallons. It moves to 1/2 when I have used over 30 gallons. Lower than 1/2 go get gas

agreed dogbert, i reckon a turbo diesel would be perfect for a wakeboard boat, great low end torque and the turbo would give it some high end punch too.

unfortuneately for us diesel is more expensive than unleaded, which sucks because it was always cheaper in the old days.

has anyone herd about a boat company working on turbo diesel towboats??

I drove an 03 mastercraft test boat with a yanmar turbo diesel in it. craziest wakeboat ride ever. from a dead stop drop the hammer boat starts to move 10 seconds latter your doing 10mph and wondering if there is something wrong with the boat. then 10 more seconds go by and your doing 15 then
BAMMM THE TURBO KICKS IN!!!!!!!! the boat takes off like a bat out hell. how you dont get your arms tore off is beyond me. and trying to put it on the trailer was just about the most insane thing ever trying to drive it on without the turbo sending you through the back of the truck was not fun at all. no thanks ill stick to my gas engine.

sounds like they need to sort their turbo lag out, because i know you can have a very smooth delivery with turbo diesel.

Seems that they need to work on the gearing a bit.

Even without turbos, a diesel engine can turn out impressive torque.

I've seen and talked to the owner of that same boat. It is as dialed in as it gets. It used to be owned by a guy that owns a huge yanmar dealer, hear in St Pete, FL. I know he has been working with correct craft also. The boat is awesome by all means. I know it is a little slow of a take off, but once you are moving about 20-21mph it is solid and will not bog down. We take turns at one of the only wakeboard spots around so we have talked multiple times about pros and cons between the boats and powerplants. Diesel would be cool, but at the current cost of fuel and the $14k that the engine would cost, it would not pay for itself. With a small block 350 running a few grand to replace in comparison, I don't see the cost effectiveness.

I could be wrong here but isn't the "diesel option" for the MC's like a $20,000 upgrade?!?

We used to burn a tank of fuel when we would go out tubing, then we were always giving it full throttle to get up on plain, i started easing into it and wow did consumption change, we burn like a quarter tank now, oh and by the way, my old baja would cost me about 30 bucks an hour for fuel, and that was last summer with much lower fuel costs.
