Wonderful pix by the way.
I keep my kids safe, and I felt there was little risk. When I say there was NO one out there, I am not exageratting. We passed a sail boat in the main body of water, start up our north fork, and did it. After that sail boat, there was not a soul on the water, not one. With the lake being so low, it was a weekday night, and the recent fires, we had it all to ourselves.
Add to that we have put about 600 hours on this lake, and that is time when the boat was ON, doesn't count the time we were just floating. We also know it well, even at night, without a moon, from camping, and the 11pm ride home after the fireworks every year.
Then add the fact that I have the same light setup on front, so could see RJ clear as a bell turning around to get him. Had my GPS going for safety. Had 3/4 tank of gas, my dad knew when we were due in, had 2 cell phones and my satellite phone on board and charged....
I think we made it as safe as we possibly could. I will tell you this, I KNOW it was safer than boarding during high noon on the weekend at many lakes, including our own.http://wake9.com/
