    1998 Pre2050WT

I am looking at a Tige Pre2050 that is in great shape with 170 hours on it for $14,500. Budget is an issue. Should I have any concerns with this boat? I have heard many conflicting posts at other sites about older tige boats.

Are you looking to wakeboard, slalom or do a combination of both? I have never been on one but werent they designed for slalom sking? I am not sure if you can get a good wake out of it if your trying to wakeboard behind it.

I think a few members here have this boat.

My 97 Pre2000WT has the Taps so it works good for both sking and wakeboarding. The boat has been a great boat for me, minor spider cracks in certian areas but no major problems!!!

        Pre2050

My main focus is to waterski. However, I would like to learn to wake board. My hopes are that Taps will allow me to do that with a decent wake. I would rather have a great flat wake than one for wake boarding. My real concern has to do with the quality of a '97 Tige. The boat looks great and appears to have high quality parts. However, other forums seem to kill the Tige for some reason. Any input from current of past owners of boats in this vintage would be great.

What did the other fourms say??? As far as wake I mainly ski, I leave the taps at 4 and ski at 34 mph and the wake is awesome, soft, no rooster tail. I put a 4 blade 13x13 OJ prop on mine, which made a huge diffrence over the 3 blade. What other sites are you getting feeback from??? Here is a good water ski fourm, ask these guys and see what they say. http://eclipse.nicholls.edu/cgi-bin/...nfig.pl?frames

Thanks for the update. I am glad that you are happy with the boat. I was at wakeworld.com where the posts on the Tige were mixed. To be fair, most mfg had negative posts of some sort. I am going to move forward and buy the Tige this weekend. I will let you know how it works out.

            Thanks,

            David

Good Luck and dont be afraid to really climb underneith the boat and check it out. I'm from Wisconsin and the 97 I bought was in Texas. So I really had to reley on the seller to make the deal, but when we met to close the deal I really inspected it top to bottom to see any and everything. Hopefully you will be able to take it out and ski behind it first. I only had the option of making sure it ran, we hooked up a fake a lake with a hose and let it run untill it got hot enough for the theremostat to open. I tested every switch and and made sure everthing was working.

I have a 1998 PRE2200WT. I bought it used a couple of years ago. I have not had any problems with mine except for two pinhole water leaks in the exhaust elbow. I fixed them with JB-Weld and have not had any further problems. Mine had about 200 hours on it when I bought it. It now has almost 400. I had to replace the stereo in it also. The old worked but did not have the quality I wanted.
