What % of HCL do you need to eat thru your clothes or if you get in your eyes and really screw you up?

Not sure. Best to try 1% and move up. I typically use 10% but most cleaners that you buy have around 3%+-.

If you are being wise... using HCL is no different then any other cleaner you may use for normal house supplies. Use any chemical with care and caution. Just because we buy it from the hardware store does not mean that it is safe to handle. Any time you use chemicals, gloves and eye protection should be worn. Most household cleaners have buffers in them to stabilize the components. You get these chemicals on you, it takes alot of water to nuetralize them. Pure HCl and NaOH do not have much buffering. It is much easier to get these chemicals to neutrality then house hold cleaners. So using HCL is SAFER then using household cleaners that are not comprised solely of HCL. Typically you see silicates in cleaners that can also be dangerous.

I have heard of guys using CLR.
              I would assume diluted.
