Brand New 08 RZ4 problem need help!

First let me introduce myself, as I am new to the Tige members forum. I am happy to be aboard and will poest pics of the new tige very soon. Just bought the RZ4 and dealer came out to Lake Tapps (whci is where I live, in Seattle, WA) to deliver the boat and go over everything. Got it in the water and it started fine and ran fine. opened it up and was very pleased as the water was very choppy and the ride was smooth. Got in front of our dock to get ready to put it on the lift, when what sounded like the fule was getting charbled, or almost like it was running out of gas. It puffef on off for about 25 seconds and it than died. tried to get it started for about 5 minutes with no luck...It was turning over fine, but not firing up. coasted to the dock where the dealer tried almost for about 30 minutes before he gave up and called his Tige mechanic to come up. Dealer thought it was vapor lock, which we dont think was the case because we let it sit on the life for about 10 minutes and still no luck getting it started. When the mechanic got here, the changed the fuel pump and the fuel line and checked the filter. It fired up and they took it for a test run and it died again about 200 feet from our dock. They rowed the boat to the dock and tried again. They got it started again and opened the throttle up while in neutral. Mechanin had to leave and we figured mabye it was good to go. We got the family in the boat and off we went, everything seemed goo until about 10 minutes into it, it started to choke and putter like it couldnt get sufficient fuel. It died again and we had to have someone tow us back home.

Im definitely frusterated being that its a new boat, but I hope this isnt a sign of things to come. Paid good money for this and this is not the way I want to start off. Has anyone else everhave this happen to them? Any suggestions?

The tank is half full and we put the fuel stabilzer in this morning, but that didnt seem to do the trick. Any help or suggestions would be so much appreciated.

Sounds like the case of bad gas... What gas grade did you use?

Welcome to the site, I have a RZ2 and I never had any mechanical problem with my so far. Do you have a dealer close by?

As you know they are a new Tige dealer. I would have them call Tige & see if they can help out. What engine do you have? One of the Mech. from the old Tige dealership lives on Tapps also not sure if you know of him or not. This does suck but as long as the dealer gets it fixed right away all should be well. This is my 5th summer with the Tige and I have had zero problems that weren't my fault. It sucks cause the weather up here is really nice right now.

i would for sure take a sample of that gas. can you hear the fuel pumps running when you turn the key on when it will not start? make sure both high pressure and low pressure pumps are running.

            FYI
            FYI

Fule Stab is for preventive maintenance only.

You add it to you last take before winterizing, and run the engine for about 15 min.
This will coat either you carb or injectors to help prevent tarnish build-up. It also acts as a floating lid, to help keep the octane from evaporating from your tank.
(Never fill your tank FULL, before putting you boat way for the winter. In the hotter months the tank will over flow!)

Since its a brand new boat, failed on you before and after the repair, and is under warranty either take it back to the dealer or have him pick it up and fix the problem.

I feel I should address this. This is incorrect. You actually want your tank full b4 putting away for the winter, as you don't want condensation forming inside the tank.

                  Wrong answer.

There are many people on Tigeowners.com that can tell you how there decals got trashed due to the gas overflowing out of there tank in the spring.

With the older tanks, and the cerebrated engines that was the case. With the new tanks (vented) if you fill it in the winter, the gas WILL expand in the wormer days of early spring and run down the side off your boat.
(But I live in southern cal, where we will hit a few days of 90+ in March.
And the coldest we will get is around 40. So dew point is not a huge factor.)

In answer to the bad gas, that was my first guess. I put fuel stabalizer in the tank (which from a previous reply is for maintanance only) but havent taken a sample yet. We put some high octane fuel in there as well. The Tige Dealer is working hard on fixing this issue as we got a call from the Tige manufacturer in Texas who is 99% sure it is a computer chip failure. He is sending someome from the marine tech to come up to our Tige which is on the aqua lift to hook it up to a laptap to fix the chip.....strange day we live in when thats how you can repair a boat:> Thanks to all your replies on this matter, and I will keep you all informed and if this is the solution, maybe that can help out the Tige demo in Austin Texas. The odd thing about it is that we gave it a shot Sunday morning and it started right up and we ran it for about 30 minutes at 75% throttle. When we took the throttle down to cruising spped around 13 miles per hour, the choking, puttering sound started and it died. We couldnt get it started again, so we got a tow back from a friend and havent been able to get it started since. It turns over just fine and you can hear the pump pumping, but it will almost start and than putter out as if it were out of fuel.

Are your batteries fully charged? Alternator is good?

Did you check the Flux Capacitor & is the blinker fluid full?

Battery is fully charged, and the alternator is fine.

The Tige mechanic said he checked all the levels of fluid, not sure if he checked the capacitor though. I will ask him next time I talk to him.

Have them put connect the engine to the computer and run a diagnostic on it. From there, the software will advise the tech where the issues are with the error codes.
