Does anyone live near Vancouver, WA??

I would like to buy a board off of craigslist, and need someone who can pick it up, put it in a box, and drop it off at FedEx/Kinko's for me.

The seller only wants to sell it locally, but will accept paypal as payment.

I live in Portland... just accross the Columbia. Did you find a Red tide? I like mine. You do realize that it is going to cost you about $75 to ship + boxing & foam peanuts? I was going to sell my Red Tide earlier this year, but the shipping just cost too much. If you can waite till mid August, I'm meeting my parents in Powell. They live in Denver. They belong to that same mud puddle (Sloans) you do. I could give it to them to give to you.

Let me know and I'll pick it up and ship it for you.

      $75 to ship???

Boy, that is one expensive box and the peanuts must be made of gold.

You can prolly find a box for free at the local supermarket that will work and use crumpled up newspaper as padding.

I looked... you are looking at that CWB ride? I don't know how much you weigh, but as shallow as Sloans is I would recomend a faster (down the line, not edge to edge) and floatier board like the Red Tide or Blue Lake.

I weigh 250 and am sure we can generate a much bigger wake than you can (given the depth of slaons). I started last year on a HL landlock. Was never able to drop the line. Bought the Red Tide and was able to drop the line imidiatly.

Have you ever shipped a board? Yeah, you can hunt around for free box and peanuts... But, I am telling you man, just the shipping will cost $75, ground.

I purchased a Trickboards Mojo (smaller than the CWB, and much smaller than the Red Tide) and it cost $45, ground.

The online retailers that offer free shipping for boards really is a good deal.

Ask Surfdad - he refuses to ship boards because of the hastle and COST.

nope, never shipped a board, but I have shipped large items such as a 5.1 speaker system which is bulkier and a lot heavier for far less than that.

I do a lot of selling on ebay.

In any case, I was just trying to provide an option to keep the costs in check... GL!

It isn't the weight. It is the dimmensions of the box for a Red Tide, 6'L x 29"W x 6"T. The guy I purchased the TB Mojo from was an experienced ebayer... he did a $25 fixed shipping... it cost him $45. He said it was his first time sending a board, and that he learned his lesson.

Sorry, Just wanted to give a heads up what board shipping can cost.

dtown is right. Shipping costs have gone through the roof. It cost me $15 to send a pair of speakers to Colorado and they were already in a box.

Dogbert - Thanks again for those speakers.

dtown - it was a Ride for $150, but I just got home, and had an email saying the board sold today. Oh well. I checked with FedEx, and it looked like it would only cost $30-35 to ship.

I also just looked at inland surfer's website. They don't list the Red Tide anymore, but it looks like the Red Woody replaced it. I am hoping to find a super-stable board that will work for kids --> 200+ lbs adults. Do you think your board would be good for this? How much do you want for it, and when will your parents be back from powell? My gut tells me to find a board now, because summer is almost 1/2 over, and it would be fun to surf now, but who knows if I will find a board by then??

They get back August 24th. Summer is 3/4 gone by then, you don't want to wait that long.

I have the Red Tide 2007.5, same shape as the Red Woody, just different graphics. The board is great for teaching and riding for 130lbs to 250+lbs. It has great drive for a small wake. It may be a little tricky for a small kid to flip the board up against there feet in a deep water start... but the small kids could probably just start on there knees... i'm sure it would float them just sitting there. I wish I was in Denver, I'd just let you borrow it to see if you like it.

I have gotten a lot better at riding and have our wake getting pretty big, so I am looking to get a board that is a little more squirly.
