    Prop Recomendations

Ok there is a lot of prop talk going right now. So what is your thoughts about 3 blade or 4 blade. Personally I have 2004 22v with the PCM Zr6 390 hp and a walters trans not surre the ratio? Most of time is spent surfing 10 mph about 2.5k to 3k rpm with 2k of ballast. Any recomendations on props?

The guys at Acme can take all of your information and make a recommendation. I would not pretend to know more than they do.

There used to be limitations on 3 blade props because they were so hard to balance perfectly. Now that we have CNC technology, that is not an issue. I still generally see 3 blade for direct drives and 4 for V-drives, but I think that is mostly a carryover from the old days, and probably is not based in hard science.

I think if your V-drive is blue, then you have a gear reduction tranny, which we almost all have.
    Be excellent to one another.

Most direct drives have a 1:1 gear ratio, thus the 3-blade with a smaller pitch(10-12 inches). Most V drives have a 1:1.5 gear reduction with a 4-blade that has greater pitch(14-16 inches).

Gear ration will mostly determine if you need a 3 or 4 blade. Other than that, CNC has made both equal in performance.
