I agree with the dealer giving him a new tige while it is being worked on
It is not like the dealer has 200 boats on his lot, and a whole bunch of used boats..try 2 or 3 in this particular case. Would you want to buy a boat that has been used for 3 weeks, and then buy it at new price?

A car with 200 miles on it would probably pass just fine for new, but a boat with even 10 hours on it is not going to sit well with any 'new' boat buyer.

Hmmm, I wonder if the dipstick problem and the cylinder issue could be related. I can understand your frustration and if it were me, I'd be on the horn with MP to try and expedite things. That's and makes me think they're trying to stall you.

It might be worth a call to Harvey at Tige to see if they can help you put pressure on MP.

It could be related, but a tear-down is still the only way to determine.

Shake, you are definitely not out of line with this. I totally understand the frustrations with not having a boat yet along not having a boat but still making a payment on the boat. I've been in that boat many times already. (no pun intended)

However, I am with chpthril on this one. MP wants to make sure of the true nature of why the engine is not functioning/working correctly. If your dealer can convince MP to send a new engine, more power to you but Tige definitely will play a much smaller roll in this. But IMO, MP is doing what they would do to any other customer and following up on their agreement with you. I know, I know... Not what you wanted to hear. Sorry

I just feel that you want them to expidite things.

I have dealt with the fact that I wont have the boat this weekend, but if I dont have the boat for the powell trip at the end of the month, That would just SUCK!!!

Finding the reason to the failure is in the best interest of MP and their customers. Unfortunately, Shake has to be the guinea pig.

I have to believe there's a way for the dealer to do the tear-down and provide MP with the evidence it needs to make the determination without pulling the engine and sending it in.

Bad thing is that MP doesn't trust the dealer to asses the problem. It is crazy that they whole engine shipped back to there factory!

I don't think the demo/loaner boat idea is all that crazy... depends on what kind of customer you are. Do you buy a new boat from them every few years? Do you make all of your accesory purcheses there? Our dealer/mech. bend over backwards for us because we buy everything there(ropes, boards, anchors, boat cleaning supplies, etc., etc.), and they know that we spread the good word about them. I may pay 10% more on some things, but if I were in Shakes shoes they'd make sure I had a boat for my Powell trip!

Not exactly correct. Renting a car is the same as a boat. Just because it is a boat does not mean that libility does not transfer. The insurance can be worked out very easy and add an indemnity clause and the issue is done. That is what car rental companies do.

That, right there, is enough to ruin your fourth of July, let alone the fact that your boat is out of service.

Are you Dave or Dave's co-owner?

I saw him last night, he told me about the problem. We are going to be out at Powell from the 17th to the 26th. How many are in your group?
