Hi everyone. I had my tire go flat on me my last trip out to the river. It got a large bulge out the sidewall. I store the boat in lake havasu and i was wondering if anyone knew of a place that carries carlisle tires out there. I'm not really stuck on carlisle tires for I have heard they have a terrible reputation. Any recommendations? Thank you

The Carlisles I used to have on my trailer would lose 10psi a week in storage. Had one blowout with it, and the spare that I had checked about a month before was down from 50 psi to about 25. I will NEVER own another Carlisle tire. Replaced them all with Goodyears and have not had any problems since.

If your tires are 5 years or older, get them all replaced. The Carlisle tires that came with my trailer literally disintegrated all within months of each other. I replaced them with like tires, only to have more problems. I finally got sick of getting flats and went with Goodyear Marathons. So far, 1 year and no problems whatsoever.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

We had Carlisle tires on the trailer that hauls our golf cart and up the mountain and back down for the kids when they go to Forest Home etc... We had one blow last week on the way to Havi from SoCal. From past experience, I went to the Big O dealer in Havi right next door to Bradley Ford...they sell more trailer tires than any other dealership in America... They have a good selection...we went with Trail America as that is what is under our Tige and have held up very well... As G-Money said...anything but Carlisle...

thanks for all your help guys. I think i will go down to the tire store you are talking about in havi. Im just not sure I'm going to just replace that tire or get a whole new set and get rid of those POS carlsiles. If any of you are in Havasu this summer look for me 2004 24V Yellow hull and tower.

Goodyear Marathon are good for 3-4 years depending on hoe far and fast you toe. I blew out 3 of them in a 4 year period.

spharis, I have Carlisle bias ply tires on my single axle fishing boat and they're still the original tires (the boat's a '99). Again, the recommendation from Magnum was that Carlisle is the best choice for my single axle galvanized Magnum trailer. The trailer is made for salt water.

I have had good luck with GY Marathons, if you search the web there are people that like/dislike nearly all brands of tires, but I would say Carlisle get more bad press the rest of them. I had Towmasters on my trailer and worn like junk and went with GY about 4 yrs ago and wearing well. If you do web research I think you will find the majority of tournament fisherman and poker run guys (tons of miles per year) run GY Marathons. No matter what watch the pressure, low pressure = heat and heat kills tires quickly no matter what brand.
My 2cents anyhow.

If you tow frequently and your tire do not sit for extended periods of time then they do not tend to flat spot like tire on boats where we have possibly April ti Octiber to use the boat and then it sits which help develop flat spots on the tires. Once you have a flat spot it will have a tendency to blow out at high speed trailering while the pavement is scorching.
