When we bought our new 22iR, we looked at every brand out there at the boat show.
We walked away with a common impression of every dealer except Tige' in Corona.
I'll get back to that impression.
The Mastercraft dealer had taken the engines outta all his floor models,, and reinstalled Frankenstein versions of them. This added an additional 19 grand to the price.
I looked at it like putting earings on our cat Meiko. Whats the point? On the last day of the boat show,, none of the Frankenstein Mastercrafts had sold.
The Supras were nice, but the high price, dated design, and the name "Lunch" (OK Launch) writen all over it turned off the kids.
Natiques and Malibus had hard sell reps leaning on everyone that looked at them, and a very high price. Again, a 10 year old design being passed off as a wakeboard boat.
We came away with the impression by the questions we were asked at each dealer they clearly understood who their main competitor was. They always asked what brand are you interested in,, we never say,, then they try to talk down Tige'. What does that tell ya?
They all knew who had the latest hull design,, and the most popular boats at the show. They new Tige' was beating them.
Their common remark to us was" You need a narrow boat for wakeboarding".
Well after 99 hours in our 22iR we clearly realize that's total BS.
They just tell ya that because the competitors only sold narrow boats, They knew Tige' strong points and fresh bottom design, plus wider width were moving boats off the showroom to happy customers.
Now the Tige' display was very low key, soft sell. No rep said anything bad about the competitors. They just pointed out the fresh features that set Tige' apart.
All the floor models were sold right away,, and their was a line of people to write a check,, and order their new Tige'. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but a nice list of those who had used Tige's to sell, because they just ordered a new Tige'. The boats on the list were moving at a fast clip too. Within hours a used buyer and seller hooked up according to one family we talked to. Apparently so.
We still had a Sea Doo Boat to unload, and Sea Doos aren't good trade in's.
Talk about a Frankenstein Boat,, Sea Doo takes the cake. I can't blame a dealer for not wanting to sell a used one to a customer.
Tige' of Corona told me how to sell it: They first told me it will sell. I need that confidence builder.Second they told me what to ask,, and what to expect,, and don't be difficult with my buyers.
They were right and I unloaded that 2 stroke headache in days.
Just my take on buying our new Tige". A pleasant experience.
