TAPS Plate vs No TAPS Plate

    TK (swab791) on wakeworld (http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/m...tml?1214630837)

The idea of that trim tab (TAPS) that is a joke. All the thing does is prevent your boat from porposing down the lake. It is a PATCH job for a badly designed hull. Take that thing off or run your boat up and down that lake at 20-24 MPH and see what happens.
Has anyone thought about taking the plate off to see what would happen? Would porpoising really be an issue?

IMO, the smaller models would be an issue but the larger the models, I don't think would be the case.

What is your opinion? Who wants to be the guinea pig?

    Da.Bell,

All you gotta do is set your taps to 8. It's the EXACT same thing. The taps doesn't touch the water at that point. At 24, heck even 30, there's not a sign of porpoising. Now at 50, there can be a tad on rough water.... but the same goes for any boat with the trim tab set to raise the bow.
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

My 20V porpoises at 38mph or above with Taps above 5. Drop it under 5 and all is better. It is the nature of too much trim or bow lift caused by both the trim and prop that is being used.

Shorter boats are notorious for porpoising. My 19' I/O when trimmed out for max speed did it all the time. Trim for max speed then drop trim a tad.

I see what you mean but taking the plate completely off would be better for testing purposes. Some idiot will come back and say that you still have the plate on.

Still, has anyone thought about this idea?

I still can't figure out why you guys even waste your time at wakeworld, the opinions that get written over there come from retards.

Cause it can be entertaining at times!

Every once in a while though, you get to see some really cool installs. I like to wait around for "G" to post some stuff ... he's does some great stuff.

It can be entertaining, but the negativity towards Tige is hard to take. I have seen several of you guys get beat-up over there.

I will say the tower speaker debates are my favorite.

Sorry da.bell for getting off track. You should take your Tige fleet out for some R&D

My 24v porpoises at about 35mph and above. You know what they say TAPS= Tige's anti porpoising system. Well true in a sense but the reality is that we can shape our wake to the weight and speed of the boat. Others cant. This is the sole reason I have a tige. Put ballast in another boat and travel at 20 mph and the wake washes, so you have to speed up. What if the rider does not want faster? I like to ride at 20.5 and I can make the wake monstrous with out wash. This would not be possible with out taps.

I'm currently getting beat up by some malibu douche who calls himself "nu bu". And I don't even own a Tige...yet! Although I have found the perfect one close to me.

I go to wakeworld because I can and it has been good with some knowledge of things. However, everything over there is take with a grain of salt. Seeing how stupid people are and how many times people can ask the same stupid question (example: I was wakeboarding and jumped the wake. When I landed, I faceplanted and woke up with my face under the water. Should I go see the doctore? )

                              Okay, back to topic.

What would happen if the TAPS plate would be smaller? Bigger?
