Well, the good thing is that you and your parents house are still standing so someone higher is looking down on you and helping you out. Another way to think about not going to the lake is saving you money in gas

The bad part of it is that I am sure you and the family love boating enough that you probably dream about boating every night.

Anyway, sorry to hear about that but then this will also give you some time to come on down for the reunion at Rollins Lake in a week

Are you getting any good pictures with your camera. Sometimes those fires can make for spectacular pictures. I don't mean to be insensitive, just seeing if you can make the best of a bad situation.

We put 185 hours on the boat last summer. I think I have put 15 on it so far this year.

No, the smoke has been so thick, you can't even see the flames when they are right across the canyon. I have saved some pics from newspaper.

These are from the first fire, the humboldt fire, not the recent lightning fires.

Crazy thing about the fire today, it is called the CAMP fire. When the west fire and concow fires were threatening everything, no one even noticed this fire. Then there was some clearing, and a helicopter notices this fire in remote forest, had already burned 1500 acres. No one even knew it was there. So now the first fires are more under control, and the winds have driven the camp fire in, and it has jumped hwy 70.

Now part of paradise, (magalia where I live and paradise are adjacent, all part of same community) is being evac'd, this fire is really taking off, and now they are talking about spot fires next to my parents house again. Scanners are going nuts. Heat and wind.

no, i have comcast business cable, it has been very robust. And I get close to 20 mb/s down, and like 2 up. I am at my desk working. My dad spent the night at the lake on his boat, he has a cuddy cabin. I just called him and told him to get home.

Sounds like the lines are buried beneath the ground then.

Wow, I just can't image sleeping at night now knowing if your house or your parents house will be there in the AM.... Prays are definitely going your way rag's.

I am still on the safe side of town. The humboldt fire burned on the canyon next to me, this was is on the other side of town. But keep in mind our town is very small.

Scanners are going nuts with evacs and trying to get a hold of the fire, its amazing how crazy it got overnight. But our emergency services has been doing awesome, been great to see.
