Well, the winds are picking up, which is good in one sense, the smoke has lifted and now air ops are hitting it. But its also making the fire run, the east side of my little 3 stop light town is being evacuated, which means my parents are evacuating with there 11 foster and adopted kids. The whole town is now gearing up for the fire to run up the canyon to the town, its getting dicey. Tonight gusts are expected to be up to 30 mph in the canyon, and in the BAD direction. The wind is blowing from the NE, which is blowing right to us. I am on the other side, the other canyon, and should be ok, but others may not.

We are fine, parents are evac'd. We are hunkered down, ready for the lightning and what it brings today and tomorrow. I am mostly bummed that there is now going to be a surf comp in norcal, and we are not out practicing for it. I at least took the time to take my boat in and my mechanic is putting in a 150 amp alt.http://wake9.com/

We went down to Rocklin yesterday, to get off of the mountain for a bit, and get a bbq for my pontoon for the 4th, and have dinner. The air is a bit smoggy there, but much nicer than on the mountain. I have neighbors leaving town just due to the air. I grew up in so cal, so its bad, but not worth leaving over IMHO. Its thick, ashes everywhere. They are talking about not having these things contained til 7/9. What a bummer. Parents are still evac'd, took them and their whole family to lunch today.
Anyway, lightning is still supposed to strike, and nothing much has changed. There are 3 separate fires that endanger the area, from the north, from the East, and from the south east.
What a summer. I am going to be lucky to put 70 hours on my boat this summer, 180 last summer.http://wake9.com/

Heard on the news this morning that there are more than 1000 lightning strike fires currently in California.
We also have 8 - C150 Air National Guard planes to battle the fires. This is the second time in history that all 8 airplanes have been in one location. The last time they were together was when Yellowstone National Park was on fire.

Well, it looks like the fires are finally under containment. My parents were allowed to move back in today, and the skies are mostly clear. We had a great fourth on the lake, had to use the pontoon though, but was great. We barbequed on the lake and watched the fireworks at night. Ton of boats. Saw a 2005 or so Tige, 22v or 24v couldn't tell, blue. Anyone else out watching the lake oroville fireworks?
Bummer though, we haven't been on the lake in 2 weeks due to fires and the lake was at 730' on the 4th. That is lower than it was on our last trip on October of last year. All of the lake oroville ramps shutdown at just above 700. I may not be able to get enough practice time in for the norcal surf comp. Huge bummer. They are talking about the ramps being closed in 2-3 weeks. Sucks.
Just checked, we are at 728 today. Good thing I have my motorcylce and our ATVs, still having fun.http://wake9.com/

Ragboy, sounds like you will be heading to Bullards Bar or Englebright. One of those lakes does not drain but can't remember which one.
Folsom is the same problem. We have 8 feet to go until it becomes a 5 MPH zone. We will being heading up to Lake Clementine or the river for the rest of the season.
I declare July thru February National Rain Dance Months. We are all required to perform the rain dance every day. Maybe that will bring us a nasty, terrible wet winter.

There is no reason to do a dance. It is called your nees use them. Talk to someone with much more power than us. He wants to here from you. The good and the bad. Then also pray that he heard your prayer for a good snow pack and rain. Rain is good but we need like 300+feet of snow pack for the next three years or more to get out of this situation.
Maybe some people could move out of California to slow down the water consumption.
Actually I have it all figured out. We have put all the available water into bottles around the world so it can not evaporate and be put back into the lakes.
