Actually I have it all figured out. We have put all the available water into bottles around the world so it can not evaporate and be put back into the lakes. J/K of course. .
I'm sure there's a law banning that in California
Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."
Not sure I'd go that far...that's swamp land down there.
Yes, but my mother does live there also.
The problem here is...
The fires are distroying the the trees and brush all around. When the rains come this winter (praying for tons of it), the water agency will get involved because now there is a water quality issue. There will be more monetary fines because someone didn't put a cover on top of the dirt to make sure the mud didn't get into the rivers/lakes.... CA is just screwed up...

Not only that, there will be mud slides everywhere because of all the barren ground.
Ragboy, sounds like you will be heading to Bullards Bar or Englebright. One of those lakes does not drain but can't remember which one.
Folsom is the same problem. We have 8 feet to go until it becomes a 5 MPH zone. We will being heading up to Lake Clementine or the river for the rest of the season.
I declare July thru February National Rain Dance Months. We are all required to perform the rain dance every day. Maybe that will bring us a nasty, terrible wet winter.
Whiskeytown doesn't drain, and is beautiful. Black butte is also just 20 mins farther.

Its not like that. The trees have mostly survived around here, the fire runs through the underbrush and stuff, and looks like most of the trees are going to make it, at least from riding around on my bike and looking at alot of the burned areas. NorCal is still green.
Lets hope they make it. It's the brush that holds a lot of the dirt back when it rains so it doesn't get into the lakes and streams.
I was working with the state about 2 years go with water quality for the Central Valley. There is a timber harvesting section that was always on the arses of the lumber people because they would take out the entire section of redwood. Thus leaving nothing behind and that is where the dirt would be an issue. It's no different than a fire taking it also.
But, it is good to hear that your parents house made it without harm.
It does help out that CA is a large state. But it only takes a little bit of land destroyed by man/fires/etc to make water quality people going it full force to come down on the owners of the land.
How is the hot weather up in NorCal going to play into the picture up there? I hope that the firefighters get a firm grasp onto things. I am tired of looking out my window and see everything have an orange tinge to things.
OK, so like I said, my parents are not evac'd anymore and it has been a nice clear weekend.
So I wake up this morning, and its 7am, but its dark outside. I look out the window, and there is more smoke than I have ever seen up here, so thick its dark. One of the fires that sprouted up before, now has taken off and is causing immediate threat evacs. Man, this is one crazy summer. I was hoping to get on the lake tomorrow to practice for the surf comp, I think I am going to have to cancel, and call this season a bust.
I will really get my surf ballast dialed in and do some kind of cool install this fall, be ready for next summer.
