help w/ Grand Caynon/Lake Powell Trip

    Hi All,

We are heading out to the Grand Canyon area and Lake Powell the week after July 4. We are trying to figure out what type of temperatures we may see. What is the high for the daytimes and low for night times? What is the water temps out there at Lake Powell?

We are also planning on taking the 1/2 day tour trip on Lake Powell. Are there any other sites between Route 66 in Kingman and Monument valley that we should consider.

Also are there any places that we can drive to see while at Lake Powell, we are staying at the Lake Powell Resort.

    Thanks
    Dale

We are at Lake Powell every year on the week of the 4th and the air temp is around 105 and water in the high 70s.

If I remember right, it drops a little. Around the 80s.

I still need to jump in the water once or twice a night to cool off a little. My wife and kids handle the heat a lot better and they sleep through the night.

A couple of years ago, there was a cold front and we had to use the sleeping bags to keep us warm. But it was the only time in 15 years.

I just got back from Powell on Saturday and the highs were running mid to high 90s with the lows in the high 60s. The water temperature was 74-78 degrees.

This is probably one of the most exciting and awesome trips you will ever make. Make sure you ski the San Juan and the Escalate Rivers and go see Rainbow Bridge. At night just put on a wet towel on yourself if its too hot. It worked for us.
