This yields power consumption of about 400mA and less than a half watt of wasted power per 60.

You're correct. 20 100ohm 1/4 watt resistors per light array. A lot of soldering but it was a fun project that I learned a lot doing.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Good, we had 4 on his boat this weekend for the 4th of july and they all worked flawlessly. He's making up another 4, two for me, and two for our other friend, to trial and make sure everything is all good. I have some pictures if I can find my camera. I'll try to get them posted. Here's one with the led's on the board and the different screws. They are BRIGHT, and because of their shape they spread the light out very evenly.

They look sweet. May I suggest a price of $2/unit?

As soon as my friend decides to make more and what he wants for them I'll post it. I'm not sure what he is even aiming for at this time. I'm just glad I get to be a guinea pig and field test them.

If it means anything to you, there may be a nice little niche you could carve for yourself doing colored ones. I have never seen any except in white or blue. I wanted green but could not find any--that's why I made my own. I didn't turn the world inside-out looking for the green ones, but I did look so if anybody knows of a place please correct me. Otherwise, Mtnsmith, please make some in green/red/yellow/blue ........at $2 as previously mentioned of course. lol

Ocean led makes them in green, but their cheapest lights are waaaaay expensive. This is a really bad picture, but it's the only one that I have. This was back in a canal with water that was far from clear, we boat in saltwater. We're going to try to get some better shots this weekend.

If it had been a little lighter out and the water a little clearer, that's probably about how it would have looked. I've seen those exact abyss lights at the miami boat show. I think the guy said those are the 1206b, that are $410 each. No way I'm spending that much on lights.
