Try Bullshoals someday if you like TableRock you will enjoy Bullshoals. There is a lot less traffic and more wind protected covesfor skiing , boarding and surfing. The only downside here is that you typically have to drive dow to the docks because the Corp of Engineers setback is much farther than TableRock. Bullshoals is nowhere near as built up as TableRock as far as docks and properties on the lakefront. Fishing is good here but with a Tige I doubt you do much fishing.

We decided with my clusters winning so bad that I am not going to board or ski this trip because with any intense exertion my head pain is undescribable.

My daughter loves the new wake and Speedset. Compared to what we were all used to skiing behind this is nervana.

        Bull Shoals is great.

The best cove for boarding / skiing that I've ever found in Missouri / Arkansas is that Gulley Spring Creek cove that you were on. It's long, fairly narrow and changes direction. I can always find some water away from other boats and the wind. I'll be at the Fin N' Feather Resort, down the road from Black Rock late July. I've only camped at Oakland and never been at either of these resorts. I hope the marina owner gets his business back running soon. I'm told that I can either haul gas in 5 gal cans (bad) or pull the boat out and fill up in town (not as bad). Lab: How did you fill up?

I'll be at Buck Creek / Lakewoods Resort the week of the 4th. We can usually find good water around there. Lot's of friends (40 - 50) have been descending on that campground & resorts for 30 years. But Gulley is the best!

I agree Bullshoals is Great!!!!. I forgot the name of the coves by Oakland but that is where we have been skiing. Smooth as glass in there all week and a house boat party is hanging out in there playing tunes and partying but not tearing up the water.

Right now there are two places for gas. Pontiac Marina is a few miles North up in Missouri and is at $4.39 a gallon and the other is down by the dam at $4.32.
We filled the boat on the way down off of 160 and have been filling up on the water. So far $60 and $80 dollars with a couple of busy days to go. With the lake prices fairly reasonable going to Town will save a little but you'll burn up a portion getting back.

The Oakland Marina is currently condemned so I have no clue when or if it will re-open anytime soon. New owner from last season!

Right now most of the good launching ramps are under water. You cannot see the ramps at Oakland or the other public ramps around the lake. We launched at a make shift ramp they made of of a side road where they dumped gravel on shore and into the water but you best have a 4x4 to get it in and out.

According to some local sources they are somewhere around 40' hi and with them producing hydroelectric power and with minimal precipitation it may take a year to get back to normal levels at a 2" drop or so a day. As you know it rains a bit down here and Tablerock and Tanneycome run into Bullshoals.

Have fun on the Fourth. Hopefully it will be warmer then. Air temp has been 79-87 and water surface at 82 but its cold when you dive in.

Have fun. The lake is way up so watch your land marks and five the shoreline a bunch of clearance. You wouldn't want to top off a tree. We where at Oakland area and up to Pontiac. The temps were mild in mid 80' and water at surface was 82. Go a body length or 2 down and it was a tad chillier.

It was fun. It was great to get the new boat out on a large clear water lake and put her through her paces. My daughter enjoyed skiing with Speed Set on and driving was easy as pie. Better than my brother in laws 99 Mastercraft Maristar 230. It is like a Porsche vs a Caddy handling wise

Next time out I will try to ski again. Cluster headaches kept me from trying at BullShoals but by time I get to TableRock I will be up again. Knee is better.

Daughter wants to try wakeboarding or surfing. I would prefer surfing for me so I will start looking for a used beginners board to learn on.

Was the water a little less blue at bull shoals?

It was not crystal clear like normal but that is caused by all the spring and June rains. I assume Norfork was similar. Did your family have a good time at Norfork

It was greenish due to the flooding. We had a great time! I will post pics eventually.
