Trip to Bullshoals Lake Arkansas with new 20V

We got down here to Bullshoals on Sunday evening and put the Candy Corn 20V in the Water Sunday and spent a couple of hours on the water. We have gotten some comments re: the Tangerine Yellow and White colors.

The lake is still up about 40 ft. and has caused us to get ourselves going the wrong way a couple of times because all landmarks and point number signs are under water. Right now the water is three feet or so from the spill-well. Most of the rock bluffs and island just are not visible.

Tomorrow we start skiing and other thinks we can try. We have a wakeboard with us and will try that and fill the time each day playing behind the boat and relaxing. Gas is only $4.30 a gallon on the water and $3.79 in town so even though expensive not a total killer since we are only burning 6.5 gph.

Like others have said about the 2007 Bimini's they sure are a pain to put up the first time. Thank goodness Matt, ragboy and chpthrill sent me info on how it went up. Without the pics and info from the download area the e-series Bimini would have been impossible.

The boat either accelerates and runs great or it starts to accelerate from a hole shot and then as the load increases it starts backfiring like heck until I throttle back. In two days It has happened three times and has scared the heck out of my wife. I have no idea why it is doing this but will take it in for warranty work next week for some general new boat stuff.

The Lake is virtually empty. It is a large lake but people are not boarding surfing or skiing. Of the few boats we saw some were anchored to the shoreline and swimming in the 83 degree water and 84 degree air temp.

Normally we we drive down here we will see boats heading down and back to Chicago. This year none.

The Wetsounds on the tower are great. When heading back in Sunday they heard me when I was a 1/2 mile away.

I know no pics. We will take some today and post so hit me with the banner.

Great job. We will try and keep CP3 out of this thread so he doesn't display the banner. he he he j/k

The backfiring is not normal in any way. I definitely would have that checked out. However, it does sound like you are having a great trip....

You might have some bad gas.

Also, be careful with debris. When there's a flood event, all kinds of stuff gets floated. Some of it can even be submerged at about 1-2 ft

The lake level has been this high for weeks. They are generating power about 18 hours a day so the lake is going down 2 inches a day. Unfortunately my bandwidth from here is real slow so I won't be able to download pics until I get home.

The back firing does not occur every time I take off just at weird times.

Yes with exception to a cluster headache I am fighting we are haying a good time so far. I am taking morphine and the fentanyl to keep the head from exploding.

The Tige rides great in heavy wind chop and performs as advertised.

We are at Black Oak this trip. The marina and boat slips by the campgrounds at point 9 are destroyed and condemned. A new owner purchased the docks and Marina business last year and when the water started rising fast he did not Have a clue how to move the docks, the office and the pumps closer to shore so the main dock office and pumps were torn off the attached slips and were slammed into the shoreline in the cove behind it. On the Northern part of the lake there are no usable launch ramps. We had to launch off a side road that had a gravel path to the water and that our Tahoe is a 4x4. Getting her back out of the water is going to be a pain.

I feel like such a rookie driving an inboard after all the years behind I/O's when docking and manuvering at slow speeds. With the bimini up and the breezes blowing I am having fun getting docked at the Black Oak cove. Each day it gets easier.

Yep that one is condemmed now. Closest is down by the dam. It is a good thing that there are a few large coves down that way for skiing an such.

I think you are right re: bad gas. After burning off more today the problem did not re-occur. It probably had fuel back to 2006 when it was built.

We are not seeing floating debris. We need to stay well away from shorelines because normal summer treetops are just under the surface.

Tomorrow I test my refueled knee. we shall see if I am buying a surfboard this year We have found plenty of butter for water

The best maneuver I found to work is to come in directly at the dock you want to tie up to and then turn to the left (or right) as the boat starts turning, but it in reverse to kill your forward motion. If you do it right, your boat will actually slowly approach the dock perfectly parallel to the dock. You'll need to adjust for wind direction when making the decision to turn right or left. I usually try to turn left so I just hold my hand out to keep the boat from hitting the dock. Usually, I don't even have to get out of the driver's seat

One is in the plans for next year. This year I still want to see if 340hp will help my old body get up on a slalom again and after I use the O'Brien Virage a few times then it is finally time to try the new Connelly I bought in 2006 and have not been able to use yet

Which Lake do you like better. TableRock or Bullshoals? Where did you stay on Tablerock. We are looking for another resort to try on Tablerock. We used to stay at Lakeside down at the end of DD north of Kimberling city but it is now on its third set of owners in the last 4-5 years and the typical Ozark Country resort is too expensive for the ammenities.
