    small issue

well one of the main screw things that locks in my tower has broke off inside. Can this be fixed? I got the tower to flod down but the piece is still jammed in there good.

Suggestions? I don't want to make it worse

You need to go to home depot and buy a tool that allow you remove broken screws. It is a reverse thread that as you screw it in, unscrews the broken screw.

Depending on what screw it is an easy out may not work. You may be in a real bad situation. Is this on your new boat or your old boat? That should be under warranty.

Don't over tighten things tigeblue... That sucks. The interesting part about it is that SPBFan says it might under warranty. That is a moveable part so I don't know... Not trying to be negative but IDK.

Let us know but that HAS to be fixed before the July event.

They are called screw extractors and have saved me many times. It should be in the tools section at HD.

Tigeblue, an EZout or screw extractor as mention will remove the broken threaded piece. Y ou will have to drill it out, you'll need to drill out whatever bit size the extractor recommends. Use a new or sharp bit and make sure to center the bit exactly. Use a bit of oil or lubricating fluid on the threads before using. I like to tap the extractor into the hole a bit before extracting to make a tight fit. Easy does it and you should be ok. The most important part is a quality extractor, i've seen cheap ones break off compounding the issue!

VERY true! Do not buy cheap ones, they make things worse. Spend the money here.

The other issue you are dealing with is metal that is not the same. Dissimilar metals. This is common for this to happen. The way to avoid it in the future is to put a little Anti Seize compound in the threads before putting the bolts back in when putting it back together. Especially if you are always taking them out and putting them back in.

well I dont think the broken screw tool will work. I have tried to get it out with channel locks but that thing is not moving. Ill see what CWS says.

I noticed it wasnt threading right and when I tried to take it back out it locked up.

I have no idea what to do. I think this is a major issue now instead of a small one. And its on the RZ2

I'll bet that with a little heat from a propane torch after drilling it'll come out. BUT ... don't take that as gospel as i don't want to be responsible for it not working!

I've had great success in the same scenario removing busted steel carb studs from aluminum intake manifolds. Once drilled thay have very little to hold on with and generally come right out especially if heat is applied. If your unsure ask CWS though.

I know it is to late, but for the rest of you a little bit of de-ox or corrosion inhibitor helps on the threads to prevent this problem. And you only need to apply it maybe once a year

why do I have to be the first
