Best place to get a Cranking battery?

Mine took a digger on me today, gotta find a new one before Wednesday. Suggestions? I got my stereo battery at Costco......should I get my cranking battery there too?

Why not? They have a good battery at a good price. As long as it's marine and matches or exceeds your cca then go for it.

I buy mine at Walmart, I don't care what battery you buy, it's only going to last 2-3 years down here in Texas.

Optimas are a good battery but for twice the price of a regular deep cycle batt they are not the best deal. Their big claim to fame is it can be positioned in at any angle as they are GellCell, but realistically they don't last much longer than a properly maintained deep cycle. They are cool looking however.

Yes, they are expensive! I just bought two interstate batts at a discount marine. Got them for 67

The Optimas have NO corrosion or leakage. A plus when they are stored inside the storage compartment.

I like the optima for the corrosion factor. Other than that they are no different than any other battery. I have two interstates and two optima. The optima are for the stereo and the interstates are back up stereo and starter.

For what it's worth i've never had a marine battery corrode on me. BUT, i keep the area dry and always have batt box covers in as well. However if your batts are in the rear lockers i could see corrosion being an issue, mine are in the front port locker. In the LSV i also have Interstates and have always had good luck with those. On the Tigé i had Costco batts and they seemed just as good.

So from the sounds of it, any marine battery that has the CCA's I want will do, its just a matter of how much I wanna spend.

On a side note, THANK GOD I had my backup stereo battery yesterday. Was able to start the boat off it after the other had decided it was done.

Me either. This would probably be different if I lived in a more humid climate or near the coast.
