Do you wax your surf board?

My board feels a little "slow" this year. Anyone wax their boards? why or why not?
Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

Are talking about the bottom of the board for speed like a snow ski or snowboar?

If so the same pricipals do not apply.

You wax to create a textured surface between the board/ski for the ski float on. Therefore there is less drag

No, I mean, for riding long boards, they wax them, was just wondering if anyone waxed their wake surf boards. I totally understand the snow-waxing thing, been skiing since I was 3, just always hear about waxing surfboards and wondered if it was something I was missing.

Oh, yeah and Chp, I had that coming

I have a mini long board and I use traction deck that I cut into strips, wax in the sun and around a boat is no good!

You will end up with a mess in the boat if you use surf wax. In the hot sun it will melt. Find a good traction pad.

ok, so surfboard wax is for traction on the top, and not to make the board faster then?

Nope. And, as someone already pointed out, surf wax makes a mess of your interior. I'd get a traction pad instead. You can also use gator grip.

ok, cool thanks for the clarification. My board has plenty of traction on the top, its the bottom that I am looking at

I wax my board. The bottom of the board that is. My racks were laving little rubber marks horizontally opposed to the direction of water flow across the surface. In talking with Sean Walzer about it, he recommended wax, boat wax. Worked like a charm and I swear my board is faster.

Surfboard wax is for traction. It does not play nice with your Tige.

SO just wax is like you would wax your boat then? Not bad.... Might have to give that a try

I think NICKYPOO is spending too much time away from his boat...why else would he need so much wax?
