RAGBOY - How close is that fire?

Was watching KCRA3 and they showed the fire just south of Paradise and wondering how your doing?

I hope it isn't that close. Last night, the fire already burned down 19,000 acres. Hope that everything is okay and prayers are going your way.

Close. We are stuck on the mountain, can't get down unless we want to fight the traffic and stay down. My warehouse is in paradise, but UPPER paradise, and I live just above Paradise in Magalia. Last night we had evacuees staying in our travel trailer cuz they were evacuated, but they didn't lose their home. Was very close though. There is another fire in Butte Canyon just to the west of us, below us that is a concern, but so far so good.

We are safe, and prepared. I had my truck lifted, and skid plates installed for just this reason. When all are trying to go down, those with high clearance 4wd can go up and over to Butte Meadows or chester. All of my data is backed and ready to go.

The worst part is, we didn't go to the lake on tues. due to the wind, and now the wind is died down, and weather is nice, but everything is on fire, so not going. This has been a tough season so far.

We are ok, and will be safe. I have already resolved that someday I am going to lose a bunch of stuff due to fire. Its the price of living up here, and its worth it. I have insurance, everything can be replaced. All of whats important will be with me in the truck, kids, dogs, data backups for my work and all of my memories, in digital images.

I would have a couple of down months, but would have lots of fun re-buying everything. So no stress here.

Other nice thing, if I just take my one workstation, I can work in a hotel room with hi-speed access, so I am good.

Glad to hear tha Rags! I was just a wee bit concerned when i saw the news this morning, had no idea it was that close to Paradise. Used to be an old haunt of mine back in the mid 70's.

Well, the part of the fire in the canyon to the west is getting worse, they are now doing precautionary evacuations almost all the way up to my warehouse. I may be getting out of here earlier than I thought, just to avoid the mess.

Get the boat to safety..... We have seen Tige's partially sunk but never burned. Don't want to see it either.

I don't know about you, but I'm high tailing it outta there without the old boat anchor if it was me.

Keep in touch when you can Ragboy, you have the right attitude. We are always prepared at a moments notice to get out of town in case of an emergency. We have back packs in the closet and food storage by the door ready to go when ever we need to go. I hope we never use it but if we do just like you I have the important things the wife, and kids. everything else is replaceable.
