1.Fuel sample-make sure it does not have water in it.
2.Check the output of the low pressure pump-remove outlet hose and power pump and make sure it flows good amount of fuel into a jar. they have a screen built in that will clog.
3.Inside the FCC on the high pressure pump there is a small section of hose. if this hose is more like a clear tube instead of a regular black rubber check it close and make sure its not split. i have seen these clear hose crack and bleed off fuel volume and cause problems. PCM sells a repair hose kit for this.
    4. have you run the boat of an external fuel source just to eliminate anything wrong in fuel tank/fuel pickup.
good luck let us know what you find.

After talking with KONA he has not verified 55psi under load. He is going to try to do this tomorrow. The other thing to consider is if there is a bunch of the corn fuel mixture in the gas he has that will cause issues also. I would say the next step and he agrees is to verify that he has the fuel flow volume and pressure under load.
I definitely agree with this statement. I had to replace my low pressure fuel pump (or pusher pump) a few months ago. At idle I had good pressure on the fuel rails but the minute you gave it throttle it would start to beep and shut off. The pressure would also drop. I thought it was the high pressure pump at first which is not easy to replace. I took the hose off before the water separator and turned the key over and fuel just sputtered out. Bingo, bad pump. This is similar to the battery test under load also, a bad battery won't work when it has a load put to it, same with a transformer, ect.

If the external fuel source works the the anti-siphon valve where the fuel line connects to the fuel tank might be sticking or the pickup screen may be clogged.

I talked to him on the phone. He could not sleep over this so last night he took it to the lake again. Put the throttle on full throttle. His friend was driving. He was messing with the fuel pressure Gauge and the suddenly the boat took of right up on plane he went. He could not seem to get over 4800 rpm thought. He shut it down and tried again. Same thing the boat could not get over 4800 rpm. Then he told me the boat was working fine right after winter for the first trip out. He stopped and filled it up after that trip. Then the next trip to the lake all the problems started. Here is my guess. He bought CRAPPY GAS not his fault.

So I told him to drain that gas out of the boat or if it has enough go to surf on go surf the gas out of it and fill it with new gas. Then go run on that new gas and see what happens.. I bet it is bad gas. He should report to us tonight so we will see.

By "bad gas" do you mean water in it? If KonaKing just changed the filter there may have been more water in the tank. Check the filter by pouring it into a clear bottle. Might have to drain the filter a couple of times. The filter would be fine, just keep throwing out the water it's trapping. Happened to our boat a few years ago with the same symptoms. I now have an aux fuel pump to offload all the gas into cans after going thru the filter/water separator if I need to.

Actually, what he probably meant was stale gas. It doesn't work very well. That's why if you're going to store gas for a while, I'd use Stabil or some product like it.

Off loaded the old gas last night/stale gas and yes when I stored last winter I used Sat-Bil. After talking to SPBFAN we are thinking that I purchased some old gas at the pump after my first outing this year. Anyways I have refuel and have injector cleaner on board. I will not be able to get out until monday but I will let know how it goes. Oh ya I have 65 lbs plus fuel pressure @ 4000 rpm not a pump problem.

Thanks for the help especially SPBFAN.

                  Kona,

Any news on the new gas? Did you go yesterday to test it? I was at the lake last night from 5 to 8:30 and did not see you around.

Ok long story short bad gas. After boat was sitting all winter with Sta-Bil inthe gas it ran fine. I stoped at the local gas pump and topped about 15 to 20 gals of 91. The kicker is the next time I took the boat out it rand for about 20 mins before the ck sensor puked out on me. I rpelaced the sensor then I was stuck in limp mode. So off to thje dealer to have the DTC cleared. Then next time to the lake I could not get past 2k rpm and I have been chasing this gas problem for about a month now. Anyways pumped all the old gas out and refueled with 88 and injector cleaner. After about 15 mins to day I cleared and ran good. WOT I was about 5k and 42 mph at altitude.
