My first time there was the summer of 1976 and I have been every year since, The levels are always up and down

It took 17 years for the lake to rise to the high water mark, on June 22nd, 1980. Since then the lake level has fluctuated considerably depending on the seasonal snow runoff from the mountains.

Colorado River flows have been below average since the year 2000, leading to lower lake levels. In the winter of 2005 (before the spring run-off) the lake reached its lowest level since filling, an elevation of 3,550 feet (1,080 m) above sea level, which was approximately 150 feet (46 m) below full pool (elevation 3700'). Since 2005 the lake level has risen 60 feet (18 m), to a seasonal high elevation in 2007 of 3,612 feet (1,101 m) above sea level. It is estimated this upcoming spring runoff may produce 50 more feet of water making the elevation 3630-3650 during mid-summer 2008.

Nice picture Sparky. You can tell by white "bathtub ring" at the base of the rock where the high water mark is. The "full pool" elevation is about 3700 feet.

I don't know if I will be staying through 6/30 or 7/1. If 7/1, I will be heading back to Waheap that day.

When it's like that I bet it eats some props from people that don't know where to go! Still very pretty out there.

Wow! That's depressing. I've never been there, but I've flown over it many times. Wow. I can sympathize. My home lake is 1/3 full due to a levy breech. Times are tough all over, one way or another.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
