Does anyone make a direct replacement for the courtesy lights that come in a 2002 22i? looking for blue and wondering if everyone else that has done this is replacing their existing courtesy lights or adding new ones?
Jake,
I used superbrightleds.com I replaced my coutesy lights and my dash lights with RED LEDs looks sweet. I think they will be similar to mine the small spade style or wedge WLED series (194 type) Wedge Base bulbs or WLED-x4 LED Wedge Base Bulbs the new WLED-x5 LED Wedge Base Bulbs are awsome they look like a small star and the bulbs are cheap and draw very little current
the new clusters I added were just spliced in
you have a relay on your coutesy lights already there from the factory so you don't need a fuse besides its a very low current
the lights already there I just installed the colored led bulbs
My 2002 20v has oval lights now. I would assume yours are the same since it's the same year. Obviously you'll have to verify that before you order anything but, mine have a smaller circular hole cutout behind them. Remove one and measure the hole. You can then try to find a direct fit for the hole or something close so you can file/dremel it out a little bit and pop the new ones in. AS far as the wiring goes, it's a simple splice-- pos to pos neg to neg-- very easy.
