    Impellar Question

I have a 2000 22i. I changed the impeller out this spring as part of general maintance. I been to the lake on two different occasions and when I started the boat the belt slips. In between the two trips I have been out several times and the boat has run great. When I take the impellar off and open it up the blades are folded backwards. Do I need to replace the belt?

For some reason, your engine is wanting to roll backwards when you shut it off. This will cause the impeller to flip, and belt to slip when re-fired.

Do you know what the solution to this is? Is it a problem?

Sorry, my thinking hours are from Mon to Fri 9-5, please check back

J/k, Timing, leaking fuel injector, idle speed too high for starters.

Sorry, one more question....First this does not happen all the time, it has only happen twice. But what should the idle speed be?

I believe the RPM at idle is 650. Somebody will verify that.

The sticker on our 1999 Merc MAG MPI says idle is 600 RPM.

How many hours on the engine?
The only time I've had an engine reverse when stopping is because the timing chain was stretched from lots of miles. Put a big ratchet on the dampener bolt and turn it backwards just a little, then in the direction of normal rotation while watching the distributor rotor. If the ratchet turns a lot before the rotor turns the chain is stretched.
