Cover poles

Where do people position the poles in the rear of the boat under the cover? I installed two vents that have receptacles for support poles. The one in the bow works like a charm. In the stern, I installed it so that the pole is right behind the engine (direct drive.) Unfortunately one side collects water in a huge pool. I am wondering if one side has stretched - it is the original cover - and only a new cover will fix the problem.

Try using some bow slats between the windshield. They're designed for this express purpose. If you can get them to stay between the windshield on either side, then you don't even have to add the mounts.
