Entire State of California Declared in Drought

    http://www.reuters.com/article/domes...rpc=22&sp=true

The thing that sucks most about this for me, is that this means they will take MORE water from norcal to pump other places.

Say that. It's going to be an interesting summer for sure.

Thanks goodness for lakes that have overflow dams built like Lake Clementine.

good thing Powell has gone up 11.5ft in the past 14 days.

and is going to be the highest water level it's bin in the past 3+ years.

I thought we got most of our water in so cal from the river.

looks like you norcal guys are SOL

        NorCal Lakes

Looks like the levels at both Lake Oroville and Folsom Lake have peaked and are now receding. Oroville is down three feet since it's peak on 5/26 and Folsom is down a half foot since 5/31.

Folsom is projected to close in late July this year instead of late August like last year. It's going to be a short season.

I am going to make up for it, by going camping for 2-3 day stints at a couple of lakes that won't be affected, and are way too cold this time of year, but great late in the season.

          Antelope Lake
          Lake Almanor
          Eagle Lake

They are smaller, and I have to drive to them, but we will camp for 2-3 day stints, and maybe I can still get at least 150 hours on my boat this year. So far this year, not just the levels, but the weather has been killing me. Tried to go out yesterday, but ended up being cold and some mild rain. Then today but again ended up cooler, and the winds were 20mph sustained with gusts up to 35 mph today. Tomorrow looks like it will be warm, and no wind, I am crossing my fingers.

Thinking about going out tomorrow also but don't know yet. The wind this year has been a major factor so far.

Sorry to hear about all the water issues. Here in Iowa we have had so much rain the last two weeks, our local lake has gone up 9.5 feet since sun. It is up a total of 30 feet from it's norm. We only have two ramps open. It took 1.5 hours to get into the lake on sun due to the ramp shortage.

And in my world we have had 2-3 decent days to go out around here most places worth going to are a day trips.

Good news is Lake I am hitting on vacation in two weeks is at least 10ft or more high at this point and since downstream is high they can't open damns yet for hydro power.

Yikes, quite the opposite here. We have had so much rain that the lake my boat is on is having to release water! My boat almost floated OFF THE LIFT 2 weeks ago!!!

I was out yesterday and the water in the basin is still at higher levels than I've ever seen it. There has been a ton of rain north of us lately.

Check this website out. Folsom Lake is going to be in trouble again this year with the amount of water that they will store.

I can almost hear the sucking sound as the state's hydro powerplants run dry. Check out these water elevation plots for your favorite reservoir. It looks like we're a couple of months ahead of even the last couple of dryish years with respect to draw downs.
