    tach,hour meter

Just my luck, there was a little humidity in my tach and now the hour meter won't show.Half the reason I bought this boat is because it was showing a few hundred hours. Is the record keeping in the tach or a computer somewhere?can I program a new one off the old one?Can the record be retreived?
    Thanks in advance,Ryan

I know the motor has it's own internal hour meter. When I bought my boat, the hour meter showed 71 hours, and I had them pull diags for the motor. The motor was reporting 69 hours. I don't know of a way to change an hour meter (it would be like changing an odometer), but you can always have the data pulled from the motor.

It is stored in the ECU. You need a special scan tool to get it, as far as I know. I think you can hook your hour meter up to a battery and let it run for the same amount of hours that were on there before, to have it matched.

Find the right Faria gauge and then do a google search.

I've sent my tach back to Faria twice for repair. They send it back with the same hours on it. Don't know about an internal memory though. They charged $45 I think to repair plus shipping.
