I have came across some of those A-holes. I got rolled for having someone sitting on the transom while the boat was in operation. I told him numerous times to get in, but he kept on getting up there. We wont name names, but he used to be the SoCal LF rep and now works for Ronix (you know who you are )
I got rolled hard by the fish & wild life officers. I blew a .083, hand cuffed, orange vest and all on the bow of his dingy from just below Topock all the way down in to Havasu.
Now I try and warn people that they shouldn't sit on the gunwhales or transom...all I get is the middle finger or other comments. Just trying to help
You should spread the word about driving drunk also. Sounds like that's what got you arrested, not the passenger that YOU are responsible for, being on the transom.

Yeah I have a loop that plays through the tower speakers that states "please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a complete stop".
Not saying 2 beers is, but .08 is in most every state.

Thankfully NO! Since I was in a Federal Wildlife Refuge it was a federal offense and they call it "Wet & Reckless" & it never showed up on my CA record. However the sentence was way worse:
1) $500.00 fine
2) 24hours in a federally approved jail (Seal Beach jail with cable )
3) Boaters safety course
4) 1-year federal probation including monthly meetings, mandatory drug
testing, etc...
I barely even drink and don't ever do drugs. It was more of a waste of my time than anything
With Cable?? As in cable TV???? That would be sweet I guess.
I got stopped last year as I had a buddy laying on the platform puking (from the night b4, he hadn't drank that day). I was only ideling as the boat was in limp mode. He had just moved back there about 30 secs before and began hurling when OHP roled up and docked with us. They asked me if I knew why. I said... "well I would say my buddy back there, but I was ideling and I knowwwww your not gonna say anything about that b/c it's totally legal (I kind of grinned real big). I'm kind of in limp mode here so don't say I was going faster than that". At that point he said, well, it's grey area. His approach was cool though, wasn't hard headed at all. Told me technically I was right.
For some reason the law here reads that everyone must be inside the boat while the boat is underway. Then another section says the same thing but specifically states "at speeds above idle"
Anyways, he went ahead and wrote me a warning while cracking on my friend telling us stories about how him and his buddies used to have nights like that. Asked my buddy if he was part leprechaun b/c he looked a little green, and thanks for feeding the fish. Didn't even try to do a safety check, I was prepared anyways. Didn't even ask if I was drinking... probably saw my water (I hadn't touched a drop of liqour that day).
I now yell at anyone trying to get on the gunwales swim deck or sunpad while underway.
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.
So is it bad that we have people sitting on the sundeck facing backwards while someone is surfing?
I had a DNR guy stop me once and say it wasn't safe, and so we moved, but never said it was illegal, but thats how we always ride. IMHO, if you're not drunk, and you are just surfing its ok. Am I waaay off on this?
