485 concert!!!! .... Tim you rock!

So I FINALLY got all my 485's installed on Sat. morning before heading to the lake. Actually just had to clamp them on and plug in and go. Also grabbed a pair of Pro 60's that a buddy had laying around and a spare amp I have. Was at "the cut" at Lake Eufaula which normally has some pretty mean systems. Well we blew EVERYONE out of the water with this set up on the tower. And they sounded soooo good once we got them dialed in. Had issues w/ the ipod and the sound Quality, so we started using CD's and everyone loved it! Actually had lots of people turning off their systems and ask me to play. I wanted to cool down my system after 4 straight hours of playing and people asked me to turn it back on.

So Sunday night we cruise over to Eufaula cove to go to the Spring Jam where Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland, and CCR (cross canadian) were playing. Well I went to high school with CCR and used to help them with their staging, so I had seen them in concert a hundred times. Didn't wanna leave my boat, so I stayed in the cove as you could hear the concert from their anyways. Well a few of the boats asked me to play as they couldn't hear the concert that well. So I got on the PA and took a vote, and no one was against it. So I played. At one point me and a friend left the boat and walked to the concert while some other friends stayed behind. We were about 250-300 yards out and you could still hear my system. I couldn't believe it. We went back to the boat as I forgot to grab my wallet and I had forgot to call ahead of time to have tickets left for me at will call! Well My amps finally overheated at one point and people got mad and yelled at me to turn it back on. I couldn't believe it...lol. Eventually the police came out and asked me to turn my stereo down as people could hear it in the concert...lol. I was totally amazed.

So we put on a seperate concert in the cove. BTW, I was pushing the 485's with a Kicker ZX650.4 bridged, and the Pro 60's with a Kicker ZX550.2. The WS-420 definately helped to dial things in ALOTTTTTTTTT!

the 3 some is a pair of 80's and 1 pro 485. I think he has 2 485's and 2 pro 60's.. so yeah its gonna be a bit louder

Well I have two 485's... BUT this weekend I also had the pair of pro 60's that a buddy was letting me borrow as well. It rocked!

And yes, the pair of 485's should be louder than the 3 some according to Tim. One thing to make sure if yours aren't that loud is to make sure your giving them enough power.

U weren't ever at the cut where you OKTige?

I love it! Great story. My boat has a pair of 485's and pair of 60's. So I know how loud you were We were in Devils Cove on Lake Travis in Austin on Sunday. I had a guy swim to the boat from a couple hundred yards away just to see what boat was so loud. It was pretty cool.

Then we linked my boat, and my two buddies next to us with the boat link on our WS420. So we had 3 boats, mine, one with 4 cans and XS650 on the tower and one with a 3-Some.

So it was pretty nuts. I was DJ the whole day. And was getting requests. Would change songs and people would yell, turn that one back on etc...You don't realize just how many people are jamming out until you turn it off

I guess the best way to put it. The pair of 485 will be louder overall and have more distance. Size of the HLCD and shape of the horn and shape of the housing. So they project a lot more. The 3-Some is really loud and clean. And can be loud with less power since the 80's don't need as much power. But the 485's with a lot of power will really project the sound.

We sell a ton of 3-Some's becuase of the tower. A lot of towers cannot fit a pair of 485's. We will have our amps soon and I have an amp designed just for the 3-Some.

Oh great. I finally get all the cabin speakers and the sub changed out to Wetwsounds, install the 420 for the threesom, and you come out with a line of amps. When are you going to stop???

Whats next, your own line of boats to go with the spaekers??

AWESOME!! Sounds like you were the hit of the lake!

I am contemplating going with a 485 between my Pro 80's. Not to threadjack, but Tim, do you think this would be a good setup?? Definitely need more mid and low end on the tower, so maybe the MB8's would be better.

Also, to the OP. My Zune was also having issues with sound quality fading in and out and I was wondering if the MP3 interface on the boat was the problem. Has anyone else had an issue with their integrated 1/8" interface??

Never!!!! HAHA. No boats. But I do give my opinion to Tige everytime I am there on design. Probably more than they would like.

My first vote would be to add the 485. If you are wanting the more mid bass and also the more distance to the rider. If you just want more low end and are not as worried with being the loudest on the lake. The MB-8 would be the ticket.

Both are great choices. 485 for more sound and volume. MB-8 for more mid bass punch and more in and around the boat etc...

I hope that you told them to make the crossbar straight so that the speakers do not look all cockeyed when you put them up there.
