    Help with a tige...

I purchased a red, white and blue tige 22v riders edition (I think it went to the wakeboard world champs in Brasil) a couple of years ago, I have so far stuck in a new long block and refurbished gearbox in order to get it running (25 months that took)...I have no paperwork to speak of even though I went to the UK dealer who 'helped' me get the boat.

I have several questions including what the red light means in the centre of the console? What does 2 beeps every couple of minutes signify? How much vibration should i expect when getting onto the plane? How many bilge pumps should I have (there are 2, neither work) etc etc...i could go on but won't right now.

Can people out there with the merc 340 6.2 engine in the 22v offer any advice (aside from the obvious - dealer doing me over stuff) in order that I might be able to get the boat into a fitter state to run for it's purpose.

    many thanks.

The red light on the console is the transmission oil light. It's normal for that light to be lit when idling in gear, but should turn off automatically once you go above idle speed. It should never be on above 1000 RPMs.

If you're feeling vibration coming on plane, it's either a bent propeller or a bent shaft (let's hope it's the former).

I had an issue with 2 beeps every few minutes and it turned out that my fuel pressure regulator was broken. My dealer had to read the codes from the engine to determine this. It could signify other things as well. I'd PM SPBFAN to find out the best method to read the codes from the engine. He does this for a living.

The number of bilge pumps is a matter of preference. More is better. They are pretty easy to replace and are fairly inexpensive. You definitely want an automatic bilge pump. Any marine supply place should carry them, so I'd get them locally.

Welcome to the site. There are quite a few members on here who can help get you back on the water.

dogbert - the red light on the dash is for the V-drive oil pressure. Yes, I know, my dash has it labeled "TRANS OIL", but it is definitely for the V-drive. The switch is a Hobbs Corp. - 76061, pressure sensor, 2 psi, NC. If it is stuck ON or OFF you may need a new switch (ours did). The switch on the side of the trans is the neutral safety lock-out switch.

We have 2 bilge pumps. I replaced the anemic factory unit with larger pumps, hoses and a second thru-hull. The 2nd pump is 2" higher than the 1st with a beeping back-up alarm wired in. If I hear that alarm there is way too much water in the boat. There are also manual override switches for the pumps which make testing easier, too.

Thanks for the help there gents, I will run the v drive oil light past the mechanic and see what he thinks, we are fairly sure that there are problems with some of the engine sensors as we are getting a loud continous beep when you open up her fully which we suspect is a dodgy overheat sensor as the engine temp seems fine...most came straight off the old block so were not checked to see if working correctly. On the subject of engine temp, what is the usual running temp for your boats?
