shifter troubles

Took the boat out yesterday......101 air temp.......80 water temp

While circling back around to pick up a boarder, I shifted the boat into neutral. When I went to put it back in gear, the shifter was locked up. The ring that you pull up on the shifter handle was in a bind and wouldn't budge; unfortunately we were very close to a rocky shoreline so had to slam it into gear......it was either ruin the shifter or ruin the hull........don't know what the outcome will be on whether or not this is something that will be covered under warranty???? Just wondered if I was the first to have this trouble???

We were leaving the boat with dealer this weekend anyway for the 20 hr. service......now we have additional repairs needed

My main concern now is how long we will be w/out our brand new Tige 22I w/our brand new wetsounds speakers

I know this is a VERY old post, but the same thing happened to me this past weekend. The black plastic ring (which has as hole for the rod that lifts the neutral lock) got jammed about the rod. Very dangerous if you were coming in to dock, or near a shoreline. We were not, so the fifteen minutes to unjam it was no risk.

I am thinking of just removing the pin that holds the metal tab into the slot that forces it to stay in the neutral position. My old Correct Craft never had this thing, and I think having it is more dangerous that not! I am guessing it was some new regulation.

Anyone else ever had this issue? 2007 20V here.

Just posted a couple of days ago under "any ideas". Talked to my dealer and they said to drill a notch in a different place on the plastic disk, a little smaller than the silver hook to make a new notch. Have not done it yet, but I think I got it back in the hole again today. I think it expanded with the over 100 heat. had no problems today.

Mine was doing the same thing over the 4th. Hopefully it was just the heat. Sounds like that drilling solution might work.

It is the second time that happened to me. The first time I was "inspecting" the problem I broke the ball off of the throttle. My dealer in Houston sold me a spare that he had and I replaced it.

Does anyone know how to remove the throttle arm? I want to remove this dangerous neutral lock. I gave it a quick try, but there must be a trick, or its pressed on so tight you need a puller.

Mine has a set screw in it and is accessed at the bottom of the shifter, look up from underneath it.

Yeah, I found the set screw on the second look. Its really tucked up in there! Problem solved, no more risk of getting stuck in neutral. What a cheesy design.
