Its the Tsunami, just a shorter version of the Ride, and I love it. Its pretty fast but with good grip. Real easy to teach beginners on, but has room to grow. It will be awhile before I'm out surfing this boards abilities

We also rode the new LF Custom 4'2". I thought this one would be loose as a goose, but actually had a lot of control.

The wake surfing is very cool. But the drinking by the driver is not cool, legal or smart. I wouldn't be on a boat, much less behind it or in the water with the driver drinking. And there is absolutely anything that can be said to make it ok.

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Not sure you are correct about legal. In Colorado and Oregon (and Texas & Utah... I think) it is legal to consume alcohol (open container) while driving a boat. It is illegal to have a BAC of .08 or more. I'm not saying what is OK or not, just what the law says.

I agree, since 1/3rd of boating accidents are by persons who are BUI. I have been the victim of a DUI driver and have a friend who was jogging and nearly killed (his girlfriend was killed). Few subjects stir up as strong of emotions as this one, but I might as well post my opinion too. It is always frightening to me that boating and beer are synonymous to most people.

In Utah, it is illegal under age 21 to have any alcohol in your system, and it IS illegal to be drinking while piloting a vessel.

Damn thats a big wake in the first picture! I have always wanted to do that behind a big cruiser.

In Texas the open container law does not apply to boaters.

It's definitely legal in Colorado, our parks just require the beer to be 3.2% alcohol by weight which is essentially the same as a regular beer which is measured by volume.

                              http://www.dbw.ca.gov/Pubs/Alcohol/ba.pdf

California has the same sort of laws. Open containers don't apply to boating, but .08 is presumed intoxicated and .05 to .08 can be inferred with other evdence.

The under 21 is more stringent:

"A person under 21 with a BAC of .01% or more may not operate any motorized vessel, or manipulate water skis, an aquaplane, or similar device."

I've heard accounts where deputies have used the "manipulate water skis" to mean even if you try to strap on your wakeboard, the under 21 can be cited.

READING THE LAWS: don't tell but, by the time I fixed my bent prop (tools and all) it was over $500. When my daughter broke her ear drum, I took her to a doc in a box. (no 911 and I didn't set on my hands till DNR showed up). and I think I've gone faster than 55 mph going to the lake. (never back). Do they need or want that much control?
