engine wont run past 1,000 rpm

anyone ever have any trouble with their engine after the winter and it wont run past 1,000 rpm. I think it is a automatic safety switch for when the fuel is not the right mixture from maybe the anti freeze.

10K RPM ??? I hope that's a typo! Your engine should max out at about 5,200 RPM, do you mean 1,000 RPM?

          Engine

We could use some more info! If you have an efi engine, depending on the brand, the ecm could be seeing low oil pressure, hot water temperature or low v-drive fluid and then it keeps the engine from going over 1,000 rpm to prevent damage.

the red light goes off when i put the throttle down and i have the 340hp engine.

Is the warning sounder going off also? Do you have the EIDB (duel battery option) if so, charge both batteries.

I see you have a 2006 which was the first year for a drive by wire engine , with the dual batteries system if either battery gets .3volts or more differance from one another the engine can go to a limp mode and set a code 81, so charge or replace if needed the batteries and see what happens, there is also a modification that can be made to eliminate that problem. You should have your dealer scan the data to confirm there are no other problems. Hope this helps.
