I believe that is true but I am not sure how much you are saving because you have more ballast and also a lot more drag of the stern when surfing.
I am going GREEN by learning how to Kiteboard so all it will cost me in fuel is getting to the Columbia Gorge and in no time will be popping some huge airs.

      Surfdad,

We have an 06 24ve, and run 750's in the rears, with about 300's on each side of the bow. Like you said earlier in this post, the more weight in the rear the taller and shorter the wave gets. We run the 750 on the side we are surfing full, then fill the opposite 750 about halfway, then fill the front sac on the side we are surfing to full capacity. We also try to distribute the people evenly down the side we are surfing, and we always make sure to have a couple people in the bow. The wave we get is long and doesn't lip over till about 20' back. I will try and get a pic next weekend for you.

We got a chance to go out on the water, but didn't get to surf the Tige. One of the demo boats out today - that is really a sweet looking boat.

It depends how you measure the savings. On a car we measure how FAR we get on a gallon. But the way we use our boats, more time = more fun. So we measure the TIME we get per gallon. You definitely get more time per gallon surfing, even well weighted at 2000rpm vs wakeboarding at 3000+rpm. Surfing is definitely easier on the gas budget. We love it for other reasons, but its def an added benefit.

[QUOTE=Surfdad;169397]One of the best wakes I have ever ridden was a 24V - I think it was an '05. No factory ballast, just something like 15 people and a cooler

I think it is due to the amount of weight in the boat. Like big wave has stated, sinker down a little and then enough weight to list her over creates a nice hard wave with a punch. Man that sounded hot. Here's a pic at lake powell last year. Or maybe not. Tige told me the hulls were the same on the ve's and the rz's except the back corners are squared off on the rz's. I would think they would create a similar wave with that being said.
