    Who is surfing a Z4?

I've seen some picture's of a Z4 being surfed and while I think it has some potential, a short pocket length doesn't suit our riding very well. As my boat is out of commission, and that has me thinking about pulling the trigger on a new one...I've been invited to test a Z4...but I'd like to see some pictures of surf wakes that show the pocket length AND, details of the weight, please.

We can't get air like this with a 10 foot pocket.

Surfdad, IMO you will need to switch out the swim platform to something that will not cut into the wake as bad. Tim (wetsounds1) does wakesurf and from my understanding is testing out a new platform. But since you are going to an extreme on the size of your wake, You definitely need a different swim platform.

      My 24Ve is for sale.

Hey Jeff, sorry to hear about the boat! As i understand it the biggest issue with the RZ4/2's is the platform shape itself, it jacks up the wave a bit due to it's angular shape. Personally (just my opinion for what it's worth ) i think the V/Ve hull design and weight bias works better for surfing from the posted waves i've seen around the net. But who am i to talk ... i bought a Moomba.

Check out DA's 24Ve he has up for sale, sweet ride!

I have a client that does powder coating and metal fab...he also owes me money, so I can get the swimdeck swapped out - aluminum shaped to not affect the wake. You gentlemen think the 24Ve a better choice? Any pics of the surf wake?

I honestly think that you can get a good wave out of the RZ4, it's just going to take a lot of experimenting with the positioning of the ballast. You have a lot of experience at dialing in a wave and as such I think that you could be the one to get it figured out and dialed in. The RZ's like a ton of weight in the rear corner, so maybe an Enzo sac in the rear corner and then maybe 500lbs up in the nose and then work around that.

The bottom half of the hull of the RZ4 is a 24 Ve...

All my pics are of a 24Ve, but I don't wait down as heavy. I use 2 400lbs in the rear lockers, and about 800lbs of people, fat sac on seat on side to list.

The hulls are very similar in boat boats. I wouldn't say the same just because the wake on my RZ2 isn't the same on the 24Ve when wakeboarding. Let me dig up a picture of a wakesurf with the 24Ve here.... BRB

Don't get me wrong on my comment, i'm sure the RZ4 can throw a huge wave it'll just take some experimenting to get it right as with any boat. If you can get a custom platform built then that will solve the whole issue there. Take my boat, it came with 400lb bags in the rear lockers. I'm going to take the bag out of the starboard locker and double stack them in the port locker and add more than the 400 it already has in the center to the front. The wife's not thrilled i'm already screwing with it!

I'm only using about 1,800 pounds total combined weight - people and water to get my wake - Rag you have 1,600 pounds in yours. That hull looks like it's going to require a bunch of weight to manage a wake like we had.

Yes, a 24Ve is going to require more than a 23V. Your boat dry does weigh more than the 24Ve does by 100 lbs I think......

But the RZ4 weights about 200 lbs more than your 23V
