So I noticed my sub hasn't been hitting as hard lately. It did this last year at the beginning of the summer and then once it got worked in again it was pounding. Figured it just got stiff over winter.

Well I decided to go bigger and drop a 15" in there, as I figured bigger was better . Plus I had a sneaking suspicion that I had another issue as well (turns out I was dead on).

Went to tear the box out. Yanked the sub. YUCKKKKKKKKKKK. MOLDDDDDDDD and Mildew. Black, white, green, yellow. Slimy, Dusty, webby, fuzzy, MOLDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!! Went and got my mask that I carry in my truck and rubber gloves, and got that box out of there. Well .... tried to. Box was so swollen that I couldn't even get it out of the hatch...lol.

This whole box was resined, inside and out. Guess when I screwed into into the box afterwards, I should have sealed around the screw holes too, as thats the only place I can imagine it got in. Man I hate working with MDF in a marine enviro.

Anyways, check your boxes if your bass is lacking at all. You might find a nice yummy suprise waiting for you.

So lets recap. Tomorrow I get to build a new sub box for the 15. Then sat. I get to rewire the interior speakers in the boat. Yayyyyy me.

Maybe you could have someone build you a custom plastic enclosure that's clear? That way you can see when it's time to disinfect it

LOL... that's already been done Larry. .... just got it for a few more weeks.

I'm glassing the next one. Actually I've already got a really cool idea for the next one I just gotta double check that it's even gonna work.

I looked into it for mine a couple months ago and the price for enough 3/4" acrylic will make gas look cheap in comparison!! It was going to be more than twice what I paid for the WS12. If $ is no object--it does look really cool!

I used MDF with truck bed liner. Will that seal better than resin I hope?

The acrylic will flex.... I wouldn't use it for a sub box. Maybe one window... but not the whole box. Trust me... I've seen it.
