Tower colors & iPod docking

I put money down on a 2008 RZ4 a few weeks ago and I'm trying to nail down all the final specs/options. I have 2 questions for you folks:

1. I had originally put in for the tower (E series) to be graphite in color, but the boat will be in salt water...anyone out there know the quality of the paint job on the tower? I'm thinking the anodized tower might hold up better in the salt water, so wondering if i should switch it...

2. Boat is coming w/ the Tower of Power audio system...is it worth getting the iPod interface or is it a piece of cake to hook in an iPod w/ the Tower of Power's auxiliary input?

I think the tower of power's interface is just a headphone jack for aux input, that's what my RZ2 came with.

IMO, I would go with the normal anodized tower. From my experience with the powder coating that Tige uses, they suck!!!!!

MB Quarts has a new iPod/Touch/IPhone slot that you could use. You would have to install if you are one of those DIY people

I think the tower of power's interface is just a headphone jack for aux input, that's what my RZ2 came with.

On some stereos that is the input for the IPOD. The Ipod plays through the jack and you plug the jack into the IPOD ear bud hole. It works but you generally cant shuffle through the IPOD with a remote so it must be done manually which is a drag. Both work but an interface gives you more options.

I opted not to go with the ipod interface. You lose the ability to search for songs/artists/genre/etc. From the ipod. You have to create playlists and treat it like a cd changer and search through songs one by one using the forward and backward buttons. Some don't mind, different strokes...
Plus you could find it for a 1/3 of the price your dealer charges if you wanted to add it later. Its just a cord.

I would go with the naked/anodized tower.

IMPO dont get the colored tower. i work on all brands of ski/wake boats none of the towers that are coated hold up that good in salt. tiges do tend to hold up pretty good but anodized is the ONLY way to go IMPO.
I like to keep it simple with the I-pod. I like the one that just plugs in where the headphone do and just work the ipod as always. the only down side it does not charge the ipod so you have to make sure batt. is up before you go out. my

Not sure on the Tige towers but samson tower colors are rock solid (yes pun-intended) and they look 1000% times better then plain old silver IMPO.

BUT as far a salt water....probably best to stick with nothing colored trailer and all - ha - salt is a nasty thing.

Not anymore. The new CCA-IPOD cable that is $50 plugs into the dock connector and then the CMD5 head unit. The head unit can browse any playlists, genres, etc and it even displays correctly on my old oval remotes. Definitely worth $50.

yep new for the new clairon cmd5 head unit...WWS knows about it as I obviously got it from them (again new to them)
