I agree. To far to drag the extra tonage. We dump if we are going across the lake for lunch - less than a mile.

Decided to put ckeck valves on the vents. This allowed a vaccuum to be pulled on the sacs with virtually no water left in them. Worked great. Project complete. Very Happy Andrew, thanks.

This is a fairly simple project as long as you enjoy drilling holes in your boat, breathing fiberglass dust, and working in some tight places. The results are worth it all. The system drains and fills quick and provides a wake that will please almost all boarders and surfers.

What size check valves did you use and did you cut some pvc pipe glue it in the check valve and clamp the hose on the the pipe?

If you look at the pictures in post #20, you can see on the mainfold the barbed fittings used. These are 1" male barbed adapters that are available at Ace for $.49 each. The check valves are threaded so they work great. Slip the 1" hose over the barb and secure with #12 hose clamps.

I used 1 inch threaded check valves. Same size as the hose. Then I bought threaded to barb connectors from ewing1.com. No glue for me

Your Ace Hardware carries way more good stuff than the ones in Havasu. They carry nothing that I needed

I used 1" diaphram checks on the vents. Swing checks are not available in Tucson.

The check valves I looked at yesterday at Home Depot were not threaded that's why I asked about the PVC pipe.

Have you tried Ace? I think the assembly you would be building might get a little long. The 1" checks at Ace are smalled than the 1" swing checks I ordered.

All Ace stores here in Tucson carried the 1" diaphram checks and a good assortment of 1" barbed fittings.

There is a Mcmaster Carr somewhat close to you I think. If I remember it was in Santa Fe Springs. Order on the website and pick up in person

Thanks for the complements but it is not all me that did it. You guys that braved the storm and made it happen on your boats is what did it. Together as a group, talking about it, working through the small bugs and oversights and we as a group put a pretty good system together.

I am just thrilled it worked out. Now when I come to AZ I will have to go surfing with you guys. I can't board when on the road. To much risk for injury but surfing no problem.

                              Ballast update-

Don't know how I boarded and surfed without it.

Here are a couple of pictures of the surf wake.

And here is what we did for the surf rack.

Some of the sac fittings leaked so I used some of the 3M sealant that was used on the thru hull fitting and the leaks stopped. I also had to order another box of the 1" hose because the clear poly hose kinked on the vent lines.

As far as the check valves, both the spring checks and the swing checks work equally as good as one another.

                              Thanks again Andrew. TD
