Darn, they already closed today. I guess I'll have to do less work tomorrow and then call them.

I just heard back from them. They will do the GPS version for $1145 shipped, 2nd day air, or if we have 5 or more, they will do it for $1125 shipped. I am personally thinking about waiting a while, and see what happens to the price of the wakeboard pro, the extra $20 isn't that large of an extra savings to convince me to buy one today. But if we have 5 or more people who want one now, everyone should order togeather and get the better price.

There are pros and cons to GPS systems.
With GPS:- The speed is absolute, so if you play on a river with an appreciable current, then your speed relative to the water will be wrong and you may want to adjust it for the current.
- You won't have strange water flow events across the paddlewheel when turning for example so you should be able to maintain a more consistent speed.
- You shouldn't have to calibrate the unit.
- Paddlewheels won't wear out.
- The speed should be inherently more accurate since water flow can vary at different speeds across the paddlewheel.
With Paddlewheel:- You get water temperature that obviously can't be had without a sensor in the water.
- Your speed is relative to the water you're in so river flows are handled automatically.
- You get to join the manly club of those who've drilled two-inch holes in their hulls below the waterline.
That said, I've just gotten my paddlewheel-based Wakeboard Pro calibrated (using a GPS!), and I LOVE it. It shields me from my inherent and longstanding aversion to running a boat off-plane. I'll never get used to encouraging a boat to plow through the water and make the largest wake possible while consuming the most possible gallons of fuel per hour. BTW, the water was 64.5 degrees last time out. Some may want to know that data before jumping in, some may not...

So I'm confused now. I thought it was posted earlier that we still need a paddlewheel even w/ the GPS on the non-TBW engines!?
No paddlewheel needed is the FINAL answer?
ps. I have testicles that tell me whether the water is cold or not--no need for a temp gauge. Shrinkage or no shrinkage is accurate enough.Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
