That would be great, Illini. I still question the need for the wakeboard pro version vs. the recreation one. I gotta tell ya that I usually purchase the best stuff, but it seems like the recreational version does what I need - - just like the cruise control on a car - once set, just bump up or down a mph if needed . It might even be easier for my wife to understand

The cruise version works off of RPM's, and the pro version works off of speed. I was told that the RPM's work great for skiing, but not for surfing, or boarding, when I was told that I changed my mind, and decided when/if I get one, I'll get the pro version.
I still think you'll be able to get the pro version in the near future for a couple $100 less, they've got to drop the price.

I just figured mine out this past weekend. I have digital pro 5.0. Right now, I'm just running the simple wakeboard mode on it. I haven't even bothered with rpm settings and crap like that. That being said, eventually, I'd like to figure out the slalom mode. Fit, I'd check with Zad on the differences. He seems to be pretty good with perfect pass. He got me straightened out

ok, not to throw a hitch in the giddyup here, but I just saw this on the PP website:
Pricing
Star Gazer- DBW Engines* $1195
Star Gazer- Mechanical Engines $1395
* DBW Includes 2005-2008 MasterCraft
2006-2007 Nautiques
2006-2008 Malibu
Is this different than what we were PP for non DBW boats?Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

I don't have a paddlewheel currently on my boat, I have those crappy airpressure pickups.
For the GPS PP, I'm assuming I will have to install a paddlewheel. does anyone know of a difference in the paddlewheels, or is one just like another?Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

I agree. When I read over the PP website I got the impression that you need a paddle wheel in addition to the GPS. Whether thats the case or not.... I dont know.
I assume you mean the difference between the Hull mounted and stern mounted paddlewheels. The hull paddlewheel will give you more accurate readings resulting in a smoother, more consistent pull. Whereas the turbulance from the stern can throw the readings off for the stern mounted one. And also if you have both, if one goes out for whatever reason you can still see your speed on the other.Common Sense is not so Common

Below you will find the answers to all your questions. I ordered my GPS version today and will post pics when I do the install.
READ BELOW!
"PerfectPass has just introduced a new StarGazer Wake Edition to replace the Wakeboard Pro system using the paddlewheel. It uses a GPS sensor to determine the speed of the boat and you no longer have to drill a hole in the bottom of the boat and install the paddlewheel.
This system is being built for all mechanical boats using a servo motor to open and close the throttle. It will work on most Drive by Wire boats using Indmar and PCM engines (2006 to 2008) . On 2006 Marine Power engines with DBW you will have to have the engine ECM reflashed to work with PerfectPass. PerfectPass will not work on 2007 and 2008 Tige boats."
That is from PP direct!

Forgive me for still being unclear. On the website they say:
"In addition to Slalom, the Trick and Wakeboard Modes have been enhanced via a continuous calibration of the paddle wheel. Improved performance in the turns and “auto calibration” means your speed will always be accurate to 1/10 mph."
Did they tell you on the phone you don't need a paddle wheel? Or is it that you have one you will use vs. my speedo's that use air pressure?

The end product is the result of integrating “speed overlay” using the boats existing digital paddle wheel calibrated multiple times a second for accuracy via a high speed GPS Receiver.
EDIT
Now we have heard it straight from the horses mouth, GPS requires NO paddlewheel.Last edited by zad0030; 05-22-2008, 07:23 PM.Common Sense is not so Common
