Throttle tightness

Just ran the boat yesterday and as the day wore on the throttle became tighter. I mean it was smooth at the beginning of the day and by the end of the day it was very tight. What would cause this and what should I do to correct it?

You cable might need to be lubed at the linkages.

Also I had a similar problem and it turned out some carpet came unglued and fell into the trottle mechanism and causesd some stiffness.
