    Tubers part 2!

Ok! I don't want to ruffle the wrong feathers on this issue, "again", but I have just about had it with these irresponsible people who think it's "cool" to drive so dang close to boats and use their wakes to whip that tube around.

We were at Lake Folsom today enjoying the end of south fork when this idiot comes flying in our cove where we were riding. (I understand all the hoot about how "I" or "we" do not own the lake.) But when safety is a concern not only for me and my friends in the boat, but the idiot pulling a tube 80 or 100 feet off my stern. Not cool at all, and I have just about had it! Not only does this guy see that he is just ruining what good water is left but he was coming close to other boaters as well. That stupid pea brained idiot almost hit me and another guy it turns out.

As we were picking up my rider we happen to be right next to this guy. Out of now where a Malibu pulls up to this dude and these guys are p.o ed. A full on fight almost went down between these two.

Now we, or the rest of us do not own the lakes. This is true! But if you are not a responsible driver you have no business even being on the water. Sorry to bring this up again guys but I'm still so ticked off about this. That guy really almost caused a serious accident with us today. My girl was on the boat and if anything happened to her because of some idiot like this I would be on my way to jail no doubt!

Oh yeah and he had a 1970 flat bottom jet boat! Faded orange. Just ugly, and pulling a tube at almost full speed throwing his riders off like it was really funny or something. I myself do not ride a tube but if I did I don't think I would want to be chucked off at 60MPH. Ouch!

X3, Not that I am a Nark but I have the ranger's # on speed dial and pen and paper. When it comes down to my 4 year old and 7 year out behind my boat and have some *** riding right behind our boat or crossing our wake. It gets called in. I write their reg # down. If I don't have time for that, the had camera phone or camera. I have also take pic of it. I am with ragboy, if something happened to my two little girls they will have wished the ranger reached them before one pissed off dad. Sorry for the rant.

We are avid tubers but we do not chase others wakes. We try to stay in mild to moderately rough water with two tubes on and proceed to hold tube wars.

As tubers we have just about been run over by boarders and skiers so there is not nervanna on the water where every one is corteous of the next guy etc. It is even worse when towing an air chair on a lake who hasn't seen them. You get a d@mn parade behind and to the sides of you. My point, anyone can get their permit to drive from a crackerjack box and it shows. There is no one set category you cane put the screwballs in except maybe bone heads club.

I agree with 1Lab, there are far too many people driving boats that have no buisness doing so. We've talked about it before, about how comon sense and logic seems to go overboard with many a people once they sit behind the steering wheel of a boat. Kind of like the boat ramp follies, it doesn't just happen there. We saw many close calls last year with people driving stupid not thinking about the reach of the tuber long behind the boat and the distance between others.

Some how all water sport/fishing enthusist need to co-exist peacefully, but sometimes you have to just surrender to the conditions, if there are too many boats, rough water etc, you just pull the ropes in and find another location or find a nice spot to chill for a while. Often not the most popular decision, but when safety is at risk, it's the best one. I guess the problem is not all people have the ability to use their cranium in that kind of considerate manner. Sorry for your encounter, hope you jumped in and gave your to that guy.
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

First, I like all kinds of watersports. 2nd, I see, on a regular basis, all kinds of dumb@$$es out on the lake that cant drive, and yes some are "wakeboarders" in anything from pontoons, fauxboats (fake towboat ), and $90 MC's.

                Tigeblue, welcome to Folsom Lake.

I had a bass boat within 5-10 feet of my boat jumping my wake last weekend. My son had some kind words to say and a finger salute. The funny thing is that his mother saw her son do this and and scolded him.

Don't forget, that is a good time to use the police siren on your tower speakers...that usually stops them in their tracks.
                  Be excellent to one another.

My P.A. through my tower speakers comes in very handy on those moments. But we don't go on the lake maybe 2-3 times all summer on a holiday or weekend. Doesn't happen much. We get flipped off by fishermen who think they should have the lake to themselves during the week.

Another reason I like riding the river more than lakes. Rarely do I ever see any tubers at all. Maybe like twice last year.

I tell ya, I hope that one day I don't ever get hit by one of these guys. Boat to boat accidents usually don't end up good.

I must try this now that the tower is live. Great idea especially in my candy corn boat.

I used to get all worked up and angry but now the flag persons job is to wave them off as they approach.

I'd like to simply slow down until they pass,, but they thus might miss-judge our speed and we collide.

I'm surprised their aren't more accidents involved with tailgating PWC's and jokers towing tubes.

Wasn't the singer Gloria Estivan involved with a PWC that slammed into her boat and he was killed?

Brother do we ever have horror stories.
Make sure you're sober in case an accident does happen.

On the Parker strip they test anyone involved in a collision. If you're not at fault you then be held culpable if you test DUI.

My dad had a condo on bullhead city years back. CRAZY there, and PWC owners were nuts buzzing you, usually drunk. Happened to us many times. My dad drove a Cole open bow jet boat day cruiser like boat. When they would come to buzz to close, he would hit the jetavator and blow them clean off the PWC, it was frickin hilarious.
