Replacement tower??

I have a 2001 Tige 21 V with a stock tower- and frankly, it's OK- no cracks, and works fine. But I keep hearing about people replacing this for something else. SO-- what do you replace it with and is their MAJOR gel-coat work needed? Just thinking ahead. We love our boat so, please don't think this is a bash on the tower or the boat.

You may want to read these posts. There is a 2nd thread attached inside of this one that shows some of the issues w/ the old tower. My tower looks just like the towers that broke. I re-inforce mine w/ SS tubing. I can post some pics if you need it.

I would like to know what some of you others think about re-inforcing the old tower. Is this ok, or am I looking at this wrong.

There also is another thread about this too, but didn't have any luck finding it.

I replaced my 2000 23V with an Xplosion tower and it totally changed to the look of the boat. It is very solid -- I am a big fan. A lot depends on your budget as well - Xplosion and Monster have a cheaper bolt on kit than a custom made for the boat tower.
