Hey Everyone,

We have decided on a Tige for sure and are weighing the differences between the RZ2 & the RZ4. I have a couple of questions???

BALLAST QUESTION
What is everyones opinion between the factory ballast hard tanks vs an aftermarket sac?

Those of you with factory hard tanks, how much room do the hard tanks take up and those of you with sacs how much room do the sacs take up when filled/empty.

STEREO QUESTIONS
DBOT vs Kicker???
The boat is always at the river in 120-degree heat what amps & stereo work best in that heat?

I would go with amps that are underrated and/or buy more power than you need. Amps that I know about that are underrated are Hifonics, Phoenix Gold, Soundstream. I have always used Hifonics, and have always matched the RMS output to the speakers and have never had them cut, and I live in Phoenix.

I would go for the factory tanks. The hard tanks will be up against the transom and won't take up any usable space anyways. The bow sac will be a soft sack and will take up all the room under the seats regardless whether it is factory or aftermarket.

As for RZ4 or RZ2, I think it will mostly come down to whether you want the 2 extra feet.

Ballast:

On an RZ2, the rear storage is 35"L x 24"W x 23"D, The hard tanks result in a loss of an area 18"L x 24"W x 14"D.

My Factory takes up some room all the time, is only 900#'s, and has a 3yr warranty.

Aftermarket takes up room only when filled and will depend on what sacs you choose.

Stereo: Kicker amps, Wet Sounds speakers, Clarion CMD5 Head unit If the speakers and amps are matched correctly, and wired to the best advantage (not bridged) I think most, not all, amps will be ok in the heat.

I have the factory ballast on my RZ2 and if I had to do it again I would choose the after market. The one thing I dont like in my RZ2 is the rear storage is somewhat compromised by the factory ballast.

RZ4 or RZ2.. That is going to be tough but I purchased a 24Ve almost two years ago. We purchased it based off what we thought would be spacious and the amount of people we thought we were going to have. Unfortunately, we never had the amount of people we thought we would. So we are selling the 24Ve and have purchased a RZ2. Now, we have almost the same amount of room and the performance is a lot better.

IMO, the RZ2 will definitely be a lot more maneuverable in the water but the RZ4 is definitely the flagship of the Tige fleet. Good luck

I was told that Tige offers two (2) hard tanks in the front underneath the storage compartments just before where the bow seating starts. This doesn't take up any room under the front seats, but inside the storage where your sub or amps might go.

Anybody have this???

For the 06 model 22 and 24 ft (I think 05 was the last year) boats Tige went to a "U" shaped bow sac underneath the bow seats. Same as what most of us have bought aftermarket.

I suspect you could custom order the front hard tanks that take up a lot of the storage space, but I would get the sack up front. The storage is valuable.

As far as the rear goes, the factory tanks there do screw things up, IMO. The batteries are then put in a box in the storage area and so the storage is shrunk down even though the tanks mostly occupy the area near the transom. I like my sacks. They take up virtually no storage when empty.

Another dealer said that they put a carpeted board over the sacs and the board raises and lowers depending on the ballast.

It depends on how big of sacks you choose, another benefit of sacks. I feel 400 pounds in each rear compartment puts me with a very good wake. Some guys throw in the 750's. On the port side, I use a custom made surf sack that fills to 1400 pounds or so. when that one is full, there is about a foot of storage left over, and sometimes the extra life vests push the hatch open.

I don't see any value in a carpeted board over the top of the sacks. Seems it would just be in the way, water would seep under it and you would need to remove it to promote drying.

I have been in matts rz2 ( its sweet) We seem to add my old bags in his rear storage anyway. If I was to purchase new I would not put in the hard tanks and just put 400's in the back if not bigger. The front I would go with the soft bow sac. Stereo I would go wetsounds every setup is loud wether it be 3some or 485's or 80's or 80's and 60's ... have never heard the 60's alone, but image they are still loud.

The sacs offered by the dealer are 600 lbs on each side & 600 lbs in the front (1800 lbs total)

I haven't seen them installed, but is there room for a cooler back there. The dealer said the idea of the boards is that it will just lift the weight of the cooler up & you couldn't see the sacs when they were empty.

First, the pumps will not lift the weight of a cooler full of drinks/ice IMO, 2nd, from floor to door, the storage is only 23".......not much room for a cooler on top of a full sac.

Ask the dealer if they have some pics of their work. I've though about doing the false floor, but more to through pfd's on top, not anything big.
