    Flag Pole--Flying flags on Ve?

    All:

I'm a new owner of a 24ve. Sold our old 20' VIP I/O with Monster tower and looking forward to whole new world.

    Question:
I used to fly my american flag & my beer mug flag (when the kids weren't on board) from my white anchor/nav light pole at the stern of my old IO.

The new TIGE has the light up on top of tower--very cool....but where would I fly my flags, or put a flagpole?

Anyone out there flying flags--if so, how/where?

    Insights appreciated.

yes your boat has light on tower but it should also have the same type of light pole you had before as well. so you could run it same way as B4.

If it doesn't have the stern light slot (I think legally it has to) then just rig up the flags on your tower. OR drill two new holes, purchase the little perko part for the flag from westmarine or dealer, etc. and voila!
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

I haven't seen a Ve yet with a light pole socket, even the 07 our dealer ordered with the tower not installed. Now, the 07 22i they ordered, did have one even though it was ordered with tower that had it on it. Go figure, but I know of no law that says it has to have a light mounted in a specific place, but just needs to be mounted so the white light can be seen 360*.

In OK the laws specifically state that you need a "stern light".

Actually according to the DPS here the language says that you must have "A white aft light - affixed to the back of the boat - is required and must be visible 360 degrees"

You might check the coast guard regulations, b/c I'm pretty sure they use the same lingo.

                        Our 06Ve doesn't.

It may be some state laws require it and thats why some do and some dont. Our lake is a USCG enforced waterway because it crosses state lines, so I know that a tower-mounted white 360 is legal, we are out all the time after dark.

                          From your link:

"Oklahoma state law requires a red and green combination running light on the bow of the boat, red on the port or right side and a green light on the starboard, left side. A white aft light - affixed to the back of the boat - is required and must be visible 360 degrees. It is illegal to operate a vessel while intoxicated, and a vessel that is operated with a gas-powered motor must have a fire extinguisher"

Found the source of the confusion, who ever wrote this stuff doesn't know diddly about boats.

Generally I think your OK, unless your on a lake where they want to be pricks and nit pick everything (I.E.... LOTO)

The Coast guard wording is semi vague. It states "(c) "Sternlight" means a white light placed as nearly as practicable at the stern showing an unbroken light over an arc of the horizon of 135 degrees and so fixed as to show the light 67.5 degrees from right aft on each side of the vessel. "

                            http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/mwv/navru...les/Rule21.htm

Where the cop could get you is the wording "nearly as practicable at the stern"

Of course, since these are the OEM set-up they shouldn't mess with you. But there's always THAT GUY. Does this mean I'm going to add one on the new boat.... NO WAY IN HELL

they are referring to how you will see the lights when your coming head on to the boat.
