    So it's all but official

Apparently Tige's dropping MP and making the switch to PCM for 09. I knew it was being talked about on wakeworld a while back but nothing was confirmed. But PCM has won out.

Which I don't necessarily have a problem with PCM, as I think they make a great motor. BUT, that being said....I don't understand why the switch???? Other than the 6.0L, none of us here seem to have problems w/ the MP motors. In fact I only ever hear us praise them. I checked in with my dealer on his opinion's of the PCM's b/c he's a CC dealer as well. He said they had alot of problems w/ the MP's. Sooooo I guess it's for a reason. But I just don't see all these so called problems.

If there are problems, I don't see them or hear about them. Must be the other 80% of the people that buy Tige's that don't register with this site that have the issue.

Are you going to wait for th 09's before you get your RZ2 now?

Wow. Thats is news. I haven't heard of any issues here or anywhere else about the MP engines. I'm almost on 200 hours on mine and haven't had a single hiccup (knock on wood).

LOL.... nah, sticking w/ the VE's. I'm still not fond of the straight lines on the RZ's. Of course, I love it on the Z1's for whatever reason.

But heck, this would push me to rush into one b4 the PCM's took hold...haha.

Lets all flood Harvey and the boys with calls demanding they keep MP...haha. If only that would work...haha.

Look for a more expensive boat. When PCM was an option a few yrs ago, there was a substantial price jump. Must be because they have a working website.

Why did they go with PCM and not Indmar?

Switches like that always come back to money. If it was not cheaper to put the different engine in (assuming it's of comparable quality) they would not be doing it. I would be willing to bet they tried, unsuccessfully, to re-negotiate thier contract w/ MP and inturn looked at PCM. All this in the wake of laying off how many people!? Seems from the outside looking in that Tige is making sweeping changes to thier business--let's hope the changes add up to an even nicer boat for an even better price!
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

MP makes a great engine. MP for life. Once reason I would shop Tige' would be for MP availability. I have read numerous times where dealers speak of how easy the general maintenance is on them.

My dealer said the MP 340 was the most reliable inboard engine they've serviced.

                          IS PCM G.M. BASED?

During our water test this weekend my dealer told me about this and said I should be glad I got an 08 with the MP, He seemed to think there would be some mid-range power losses going to the pcm, and thought the MP was the best motor he has seen in all the Tige's

Yes, they all use the same marinized block from GM.
