    No advertising of boats!!!

I can't believe the extents to which these guys will go. FYI Mastercraft lets their owners website post boats for sale. Not only that but they actually have a classified section. They must be smart enough to realize that taking care of your customers after you sell a boat is important as well. I can't afford a new boat, so I am worthless? There are alot of people like me that need to buy a used boat. Ever think that maybe the guy selling the boat might buy a new one!!!! Oh but the dealers might get mad because you don't trade it in to them. So what, they don't care as long as they are selling new boats. Everyone of them I have ever talked to don't like dealing with used boats anyway. They tell you to try and sell it yourself. Why not make that easier for people this will lead to more NEW BOATS PURCHASED. I am not a rocket scientist, but if it hasn't hurt mastercraft or their dealers than why are tige dealers any different. Is anyone else as frustrated as me? This is total BS and it makes me start thinking that maybe I should buy a boat built by a company that cares about customers even after the boat is sold and beyond warranty.

    mmkay........ you could try....

    www.boattrader.com
    www.flipsell.com
    www.boats.com
    www.usedboats.com
    www.boatsville.com

it can go on and on....... Weird to think that because Tige doesnt offer a classified section on their website you may look into another brand. You should look at the quality of the boats, factory warranty and customer/ dealer input to the brand instead of a website not having a classified link.

Stay Calm! I think that Ssrgeoff has it all for you. Who needs yet another classified section to look for boats in? My dealer even placed the ad for me on Boattrader online and took phone calls for me! I think its clear he didn't want to trade it in as that would be a PIA for him and less money for me. BTW my 2002 21V sold quickly and for a good resale price. I think Tige is smart to not clutter up the owner's website with classifieds when other sites do it so much better and reach more people.

Did you get your new boat yet? There's been no posting of it, and your profile still shows 21V. What is the update?

            boats for sale

I understand that there are other places to list and sell boats. I am quite aware of the different venues. You (ssrgeoff) act as if my statement was silly and made no sense. Owners groups are supposed to provide a forum for owners to speak there mind, good or bad and to help promote the Tige's that are already on the market and provide a forum for the owners of such boats to improve, meet together and generally discuss boating with a Tige. Boattraderonline.com is quite a different animal. If I had the choice of purchasing a boat from someone outside of my local area, I would be much more wary of how the owner had treated his boat and how it had been maintained. Usually the boater that frequents a site like this is a much more savvy and knowledgable boater. If I could talk back and forth with someone and have more knowledge about them ie. (view their old posts etc.) I would feel much more comfortable that the boat would be in whatever condition that they portrayed it. The long and short of it is that it causes no harm to anyone to have a classified section in which people can sell boats. It is only restricted because of Dealer and Manufacturer fears of lost revenue. Anyone who would like to refute that is more than welcome. As far as buying a boat, you are right I can find lots of boats to purchase. But keep in mind that it is very expensive to advertise with all of the different places like boattraderonline and the like and who knows if the best potential buyers are being reached. People who love Tiges. ssrgeof, you need to be a little slower to jump on someone unless you will give a better argument for why it shouldn't be allowed than "there are other places that you can purchase used tiges" So what!!! There are Mastercrafts and Ski Nautiques on boattraderonline too, But their owners sites don't discourage selling of used boats. The Fact is and will remain that it harms no one and would promote the product rather than do it damage. Now, Commercial advertisements would be a whole different thing and I don't think that those should be allowed or you could get inundated with boats for sale and become a free version of boattraderonline.

Is it just me or is it wrong to come onto a boat owners site, trash them because they don't have a simple classified section, and then trash the boat company because of it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but before this post, no one on this website has complained or even brought up the need for a classified section. And if a boat owners website doesnt have a classified section and that determines your boat selection and person thats messed up. Seems a little fishy to me.

              P.S.-Congrats talltigeguy on your sale.

Bo does make a good point about the users on this forum may be a source of better than average cared for boats. It's hard to agree with him though because he comes across so abrasive. I felt like arguing with him just because he trashed the whole company instead of directing his remarks to just one practice he dislikes.

Sometimes if you put a little honey on the crap it is received better.

                      Beating up manufacturer and sit

I don't think that making the suggestions that i made is beating up or trashing the manufacturer or the site. I'm sorry but I just think that the policy sucks and should be cganged. I have been getting "trashed" by a few of the guys that have posted and thats fine. As far as something fishy going on. if I was fishy I wouldn't still be posting. i have no hidden agenda. What I really want to find is a tige that is a bit of a fixer upper. Perhaps a blown engine or one that needs some work. Just because I don't have 50 grand to drop on a boat shouldn't make me some low rent pest to the site. Think of this, your 1995 tige just blew a motor and you have been wanting a new boat. Advertise a Tige with blown motor on boattraderonline and see how much response you get. Post it on an owners site and there are guys like me that appreciate a good slalom boat and would pay decent money and put a new motor in or fix it themselves. This is a GOOD THING FOR OWNERS!!!!! Wake up, I'm not talking about making the site the next eBay. I haven't ever registered before, I just check the site out now and again, but I don't own a Tige right now, I just would like to. I registered so that people could respond and I wouldn't be anonymous. As far as cluttering up the site, having a classified section does not clutter up a site. Look at some other owner sites and explain to me how they are cluttered. I am surprised at the amount of defensive rhetoric, I know that I am not the only one that feels the way I do. Cut me some slack and if you have a GOOD, reason that it shouldn't be added, tell me. Otherwise, I am sure that alot more people would like to see it. Maybe there aren't many people like me on the site. Perhaps it is all people who have enough money and credit to just buy a new boat. Trust me if I could, I would. But don't say I'm Fishy.

My fault for coming off wrong, I took the other post the wrong way but after this one I know where your coming from as before I didn't know a few things I do now. I can see what you mean about having a classified for boats and they probably would allow it on older models but I don't think Tige wants new boats being sold for better prices anywhere else. Once again, if you were offended, my apologies. But instead of coming in and flipping over one thing, simply just say you don't like the fact theres not a classified and explain why instead of the first post you made. I'm sure more people would want to listen if you were more clear and peaceful (if thats the right word) about it. Just my .02

I probably did come off a little bit strong, I wrote it while I was still upset about reading the "announcement" That i had not read before that says,"it is against Tige and their Dealers Policies" I am sure that the site administrators are not responsible, but it does bother me that Tige and or their dealers would make this restriction. So I pulled up the Mastercraft owners site and sure enough they have a classified section where owners can sell their boats to other Mastercraft fans. I checked a couple others and sure enough they allow it as well. I understand the legalities of it. But if the other boat companies allow it and their dealers obviously don't make any huge objections then whats the big deal. Tige fans should have a place where they can buy used boats from other tige owners. Question, Is this site an owners site supported with members funds or is it sponsored by Tige? Perhaps if it is sponsored by Tige that is why they have a little more say over what happens here. I don't know if the other boat companies support the owner sites or if they are independent. I don't mind if it is the policy that is forced by the corporate group, but if it is maybe a little pressure and some squeaky wheels might help them to loosen up. I really believe that a classified section would help the company and teh Dealers not hurt them. If I buy your old tige, you can buy a new one. If it is easier for you to sell your old boat, maybe you buy a new one a little more often. I'm not trying to cause trouble, but i am trying to cause change. Maybe if Charlie Pidgeon hears that some grouchy wanna be owner is making a fuss he will ease up on the rule. That's all that I hope for. Sorry for anyone that thought I was a little too grouchy in the start. But I was a little fired up. Still am, just had some cool down time.

I apologize if I called you out, I do not speak for Tige or any of its dealers so take this as a grain of salt if you will......

www.tigeowners.com does have a classified section in which people will post anything they have for sale. I know it doesnt clearly state "Boats for Sale" but you can still add it in there or post in General Discussion. As far as this website is concerned, it is a place for Tige owners to meet and discuss any issues or concerns that they have in their particular boat and in your case help aid you in purchasing your first Tige. Maybe it was the way you came across, I felt that because Tige doesnt do what everyone else is doing that they could lose your business. My remark was to look beyond that and buy a boat because of the way it performs or how it will fit your needs instead of them not offering a Classified Section for used boats. Anyhow, welcome to the site and I hope that you can find what you are lookig for in a Tige. Please let us know if their is a particular boat your looking at for feedback. Moderators do monitor this site so I am sure they understand your concern.
